After an accident on Sunday where I was catapulted off my board, breaking the pin in my Uni joint I started thinking dangerous I know.
What spares should I keep in my kit bag?
I have spare sail tape 5m. Spare fin screws, Harness ropes.
What else? Obviously I should have had a spare Uni pin.

Not sure about your kit bag but next time you change out your downhaul line from your mast extension or outhaul from your boom, take the old length and wrap it around your harness bar. (Tie it on then wrap it round and finish it off with electrical tape)

If you're ever out on the water and break something with your kit, it's amazing how handy that length of line can be to get you back to shore, with all your kit !

Excellent tip Windwarrior I would have been able to thread the line through my uni and sailed home instead of the swim and llong walk.
I will add my spare down haul line to my harness bar.

i have a down hall pulley after the 7.5 pulley died while rigging. I guess i never need them now i have backup. Taking the old length of downhaul line and wrap it around your harness bar is a awesome idea

few toothpicks to stick in stripped out footstrap plugs
instant cold pack to chill beers (or OK, injuries like they're designed for)
ding stick and Solarez each is better for different things
needlenose pliers - getting the knot end of rope out from the tiny tight space at the end of your boom or extension is one that springs to mind

I used to have a collection of everything in the car however after many years, I found I didnt need much apart from incidentals like fin bolts, breather plugs and tape.

I run two UJs, a new one and a back up one. Trade in the backup every year so I know that the main UJ I am using is less then 12 months old. $60 well spent.

I think the key is to look after your gear,,, If your ropes look sus -- replace them.

Have not changed my UJ's in years. They last indefinately if you are on a budget.

Keep nothing spare,that's why I'm always borrowing stuff.
