Draft Master Plan has been released. Read the full report because the executive summary is useless.

From my quick review it appears to work for our needs, though it is a little concerning that no mention is made of windsports in the paper, so if we don't speak up our interests could be affected as the planning process is ongoing.

There is a proposal to redevelop the surf club and provide better beach access, so that appears to be good for us. There is no guarantee our rigging area will remain.

There is a slightly concerning proposal for a 50m pool but it appears to be intended to be set back a good distance from the beach and more towards Brighton Road.

Public comment closes 3 March.

I was just looking at the proposed pool development for Scarbs - a lot of the development looks to be on the site of the SSLC so it looks like access to the usual rigging area and launch spot will be impacted.

I love how under "user groups considered", there is no mention of surfers of any kind.

Really... they are spending $26 million to build a public pool right next to the ocean? I can see a thousand things the money would be better spend on... public schools, public hospitals, community centre for kids and youths?

Or an epic area for windsurfers/kiters/surfers to hang out and rig up/down etc.

The removal of 237 car parking bays is not going to help...
