Hey does anyone have any info or knowledge of sailing at Port Hedland? Just arrived and noticed a few kiteboarders that sail off the spoil banks. I've got some larger freeride gear with me and on return trip end of December will bing the smaller freewave gear over. Pretty consistent West to NW wind 15-20kn from lunch onwards that builds 18-20 knots constant with gusts up to 25 from 3ish till around 6-7pm . Been like that each day for the past 2 weeks. Any info welcome

real strong easterlies in winter every day. get some footwear as there are stone fish and rays and the rocks are pretty sharp on the western side .Watch the tides ive seen many a tourist car get flooded by parking out on the end and getting caught out. The large tides make the end of the spoilbank an island and that island goes under on real big tides

Ta for the info guys. I usually wear booties when sailing on Moreton Bay back at home in Brisbane but may not hold out a barb from a stone fish though......have to keep to the sandy bits. In terms of not falling in are we talking about our grey wetsuit friends that feed on the turtles?
