Hi everyone,

I'm a french 29 year old windsurfer, coming from windy south of France.
I'll be moving to Perth in october for a few years at least. I intend to windsurf the maximum there and in the surrounding spots.
I do most slalom and bump and jump sailing.

As I am windsurfing in a high wind region (often 20 to 35 kts) I have a quite high wind orientated quiver of sails & boards.
I have noticed on Windguru archives that the wind in Perth is more frequent than what I am used to but it seems also more medium-strength.

Is this close to reality? How is the wind? Do you often get high wind days (above 20 or 25 knots)?

I ask the question to know if it is worth to bring all my gear with me or sell some parts which could be un-necessary in Perth.

I am 70kg and have the following:

Fanatic Falcon 111, 111 liter/69cm wide slalom board, with 6.6 and 7.4 race sails, from 12 to 25 kts
Exocet Warp 58, 80 liter/58cm wide slalom board, with 5.9 and 6.6 race sails, from 16 to 35 kts
Exocet Exowave, 75 liter/53cm wide onshore-wave board, with 4.0 and 5.0 wave sails, from 18 to 35 kts

Do you think I should bring everything with me, or sell and replace some parts?
Maybe trade-in the 75 liter board to a 85 and the 80 liter slalom to a 90?

There's lots of kit over here for sale if you want to avoid having to carry boards by plane.

But that quiver looks ideal to me

I'm 85kg, have an 80 litre waveboard, small slalom and large floater, wave sails 4.5 - 6m, race sail 6.8m.

Ahoy there matey, sounds like your set to sail every day with that kit.
If you get into waves most of your sailing will be with the 5mtr though a 5.5 to 5.7 would be handy. At 70kg you'll probably use the 4 quite a bit when north of perth and over winter and bring a camera so you can show your mates what there missing out on. Oh, and watch out for a guy called Greenroom, he's a trouble maker.

summer seabreezes are the best winds we have, nice and steady, very little gusts, around Perth they sometimes get close to 30kt, but in peak season, more like 18 - 23. Begining and end of season 10 - 18.

Winter storms can be wild, over 40kt is possible, we've had a few through lately though closer to 20 - 30. They are usually very gusty, and the wind can drop out down to 5 - 10 kt for 5 - 20 minutes, before the next squall comes through.

As Nebs says the further north you go in Summer the stronger the wind, if you're going to be here a few years you'll definitely go north, then you can get seabreezes 25 - 35, mid season.
