Hi everybody!

I'm from Spain and I landed here in Perth seven months ago but until now I couldn't do windsurfing (money for the car, for the windurfiing stuff, etc).

But now I'm starting to sailing. Today has been my first day! :) But in the beach where I was nobody more was doing windsurfing. There were just a couple of kiters and that's it! The beach is TRIGG BEACH... Initially, the conditions weren't not bad. But at the end, the wave were very big and it was imposible to go out... I think that it's for that reason that there was no one over there...

Can somebody inform me about where are the spots more interesting please? Thanks!

English?! Pahhh! Head to Leighton beach or Pinnaroo pt. Scarb and Trigg have some of the most lethal waves you can find so wa up to if and then head to Scarb/Brighton..there are some good sailors there will give you the low down..some of them are English so you may not understand them...I am sure they will learn eventually...

Lancelin is only an hour away (less depending on your car)

Pinnaroo point is "easy" but crowded with kites most of the time.

There are other beaches south of there you can sail at, best to check it out on a windy day and see where the others are. Most of the time the waves around Perth are pretty small, I think you were "lucky" but Trigg and Scarborough (Brighton) do have a beach break which makes launching a bit trickier.

You were unlucky with the wind yesterday.

If you are looking to sail on flat water then the river is better.

Search for Pelican Point on Google for South, South-Westerly, Easterly winds.
Search for Melville Beach Road Applecross to sail in more Westerly winds. There is a car-park in the middle of it where windsurfers rig up.

Otherwise, as the guys said, Pinnaroo Point near Hillarys is where windsurfers sail on the ocean, closest to you.

I was out the back near 3mile doing a windless downwinder yesterday when some bomber swells were coming through and drifting back in through the break at City Beach was dicey.. Tom Radis ate it at Scarb and lost a sail, so..beware! Do try and Get to Lancelin though too..next few weeks there will be buzzing with windsurf especially!

Sailing at Peli point today(Tuesday)in supposedly up to 20 odd knots I could not plane with a 6.3m and did not see anyone else plane! Took me the best part of a hour to sail upwind to Melville where i launched from and the wind was just about sailable,maybe 5 knots stronger. Not the first time I have noticed this either. Stay away from Peli Point in light/moderate wind. Sea breezes this year have been consistent but super light! Ocean Reef according to the graph seems to be getting the strongest breeze. Woodmans Pt and Garden Island Rockingham next best.

Had a great NYE session at Peli this arvo..smile on the dial!
