Last week Australia Sailing WA and Windsurfing WA teamed up to run the first Windsurfing Instructor course in WA for a very very long time (+ 10yrs). We had a range of ages, abilities, home beach locations and equipment styles on the course.

Australian Sailing has realised that Windsurfing is having resurgence at the moment so pouring a lot of effort into getting windsurfers back into yacht clubland and on the water in general. There are plans brewing to run more instructor courses in Geraldton and Perth before the end of the year.

ALL Photos of us struggle to learn to master the basics again have been burn. What happens on the course stays on the course. How would have thought windsurfing in zero knots on a 200L + Bic Techno would be so tiring. Beginners do it tough.

Well done Tim and also to the other participants especially the young guys.
Some of the prerequisites for the course are-
Working with Children card
Current first aid ticket
Power boat handling cert

any idea whether the recreational skippers ticket satisfies the power boat handling certificate? again, i had a look on the Sailing website but not much obvious info about that.

There is not a lot of difference between the Australian Sailing Instructor courses in regard to requirements for first aid, RST etc. For the windsurfing course in WA the Power Boat Operator cert is part of the weekend course. The link below should answer most questions but by all means, email info@windsurfingwa.org.au if you want to know more.

www.sailingresources.org.au/instructors/instructor_qual/

The pricing listed is out of date and we have worked out a better deal.
