Anybody had confirmation on 11/12 Jan ?
Their website has no e-mail contact and I tried the phone number but it said leave a message
and then seemed to default to a ringing tone ?
I'm coming from overseas and only plan to bring a 103 Isonic with a 7.8 Naish 3 cam sail.
83 kgs, old but competent racer.
Any comments or advice on eqpt choice ?
Thanks.

g'day K21
sounds like a good choice of gear but you may want a second sail as well, around 6.5-7.0m, incase it blows
weed fin is a good option too

Guy cribb did that rocked up with 102 jp and 7.0 and was soooo not gonna get planing, he had limited room on the plane to get his gear over though, but hey the way i view it is if you can race on the gear that you have; it means you're not used to it, no point going out and buying a 9.5m sail if you never used one before, believe me with all the horror stories (as well as the good, however i hear more horror then good) of rocking up with gear that you re not used too, its a bad mix... no point racing 25kms downwind on gear that you have used once on a leisure sail! unless you like holy balls...

so if you only ever use a 6.5m and 100l board and the conditions are right for it GO FOR IT... if not, join me at the pub, DONT get sunburnt and enjoy the party

oh and you gotta do a bit of off the wind sailing....

WAVE SAILING DOESNT COUNT MARK

not because you have to, or you will suck otherwise, but spice up your routine, do a down winder, you will spot your flaws straight away, it can suck sailing in the same place....

keep an eye on the webpage as entries will open within the next couple of days. Should be a good event with a new finish line and I think that some big names are already confirmed...

I'd encourge everyone to support local events and sign-up !!!

Come on KOTP... come down and show us some stylish sailing. I bet you a bottle of bundy that I''ll finish ahead of you in the Marathon - do you need more incentive?

So ANOTHER new finish line, is it going to at wedge island this year !

Would be good if it was back at the old one near the jetty but I guess it depends on the sponsors, its not like I make it to the finish very often anyway so I dont know what Im complaining about

The register page doesnt seem to link to anything yet. Im sure they will get it sorted sometime.

Interesting reading on the Schedule of events (http://www.lancelinoceanclassic.com.au/the-festival/schedule-of-events)

Grace Darling Park (Windsurfer Park or Werners spot) is now where all the action is including the finish.

I guess the party will be a bit different but there is nothing stopping everyone going to the pubs as well I suppose !

I dont think there has ever been a finish there, although I think there was one year when the last inside mark was there and there was then "slalom" racing down to the finish. I think the idea was to make it more exciting for spectators. I cant remember what actually happened that year.

I just hope the tide and finish line are ok to get over that inside reef, could be interesting for anyone with a large fin.

Link to PDF of event schedule is on site www.lancelinoceanclassic.com.au/Event_Schedule.pdf even has a nice map on it showing where its all happening.

I just got a reply from a bloke at loc@lancelinoceanclassic.com.au who says
" web site still being revamped and regos will be up on weekend"
"happy to take your money now"
"secure your start position early by forwarding bank details"
............To Winston Mbongo in Lagos.
Seriously though he did give me their Bank info and its $150 for Elite (whatever they are !) and $ 100 for all others (no discount for pensioners)
