A tip for new competitors from last year's winner Windsurfing marathon winner Steve Allen.

"DON'T TAKE TOO BIG EQUIPMENT. IT IS BETTER TO BE A TOUCH UNDER POWERED THAN OVER POWERED, TO HAVE PLENTY OF POWER FOR THE WHOLE RACE."

too true -However i suspect the race will be won on a sail in the 9m range this year.

lets hope that trough shifts on saturday!

Or the race orgs have the ability to start the race a little later - the cleanup operation usually puts pressure on to get the race started as early as possible. (Hint hint)
i am praying for that trough to shift 20ks inland for 2 hours...

Also - move harni lines more fwd than usual and boom a touch higher as you will be sailing off the wind - often at deep angles for the majority of the race. You might want to try that mast track setting a bit further back too.

Your gear sets up very differently for this compared to the usual reaching angles you do in every day sailing.

Loosen your straps a bit too. Tight straps with heels on rails are no good for deep off the wind angles or board control in monster chop.
