I'm heading over on Wednesday for 10 days sailing plus family holiday, hopefully including a run in the LOC marathon.

Unfortunately the current forecast is making gear selection difficult. Ideally I was planning to bring 1 board (Falcon 99) with 7.0 and 6.3 sails. My reading of the forecast for Saturday is that my big gear (CA SL70 and 8.4) might be required if in fact it's sailable at all. I don't want to bring just the big gear if it restricts me from having fun on the water one the seabreeze pattern returns. However, I will definitely be in excess baggage territory if I bring the lot (plus cot, kiddie seats etc.!)

So any advice from the locals would be much appreciated.

By the look of it at the moment IF the marathon runs you will want the big gear. But two days after that you will want the small gear so I see your quandry.

4.7 today...... 9m on Saturday

Don't know ya from a bar of soap but if you are staying in Lancelin I can lend you a porta-cot and a high chair thingy if it gives you some more wiggle room with your baggage?

Ended up biting the bullet and bringing 8.4 as well as 7.0. Took the big gear out yesterday at Lancelin and it seems to be just about do-able offshore for me up to 20 knot gusts.

Just scraped in under the baggage weight limit, with some latitude applied by the Virgin check-in dude.

Chris thanks for the offer, we've got the porta cot sorted. Fortunately kids equipment doesn't count towards your baggage limit or we would have been coughing up for excess.

I'd have run with "yes the wavesailing gear is my child's, as is the race gear and the SUP and the shortboards, and ......."
