So my last batch of flares have an expiry of 'Jan 17'. Does anyone (WWA hopefully) know whether these will be ok for the LOC? I assume this includes January? Trying to avoid buying new ones if all they do is sit around but I will if need be. Cheers

I always use expired flares in the LOC. No sense in getting wet the good ones I store on my boat to keep fisheries happy.

More importantly where would you dispose of expired ones?

I should think the Garbo's may be a bit peeved if the back of their truck starts billowing orange smoke

i Just took about 10 flares to the local tip , they go under hazardous household waste. its free. Dont go if its over 35 degrees like i did last week as they shut the gates on that section as its a fire risk.
That was at balcatta tip but it should be the same all over wa.

They've allowed expired flares in the past as long as they look to be in good condition.

Expired flares can usually be donated to the sea rescue guys, if they're still in good condition they can be used for training and demonstrations. The LOC guys normally do a flare demo before the race and they're usually expired/donated flares.
