Just asking for tips when planning a first time trip to Coronation beach/Gero
What time of year is best for intermediate level windsurfer? Taking kids (4)
Have well equipped offroad camper trailer.
Have looked on windsurfin in WA web site.
Will also be takin SUP.

Any/all help an advice is appreciated.

My Mates from Queensland migrate there every year around early december. They are "high wind junkies" though. I've been there with them a year or so ago before i Started sailing they seem like a real good bunch a dudes that sail there. A friend recently told me that you get all levels of sailors there from first timers to experts. I don't really know much but it seems to cover all bases, good wind, nice off shore swell and some good flat water in the bay. It's like a windsurfing utopia, you and the kids will have a ball!!

camp site is fantastic. Drop pit toilets and barbeques both in very good condition.

I went to corros first time last summer with mates. the sailing is fantastic.

Beach is average for swimming so may have to bring some toys for the kids.... a quad bike would do the trick, it'd be fun cruising the dunes. maybe a kite?

gero is 20 mins away so wife can take them in while your out sailing. perfect.

Ive got my holidays booked and am heading up there with a bunch of mates. im going from the 16th on november to the 7th of december. i figure it should be good by then.
i cant wait the 148 days :) get up there before its gone i say.

I went this year at the end February for five weeks and it was great, holidays had finished so most of the tourist were gone and it was just me and the locals and the odd tourist. The water and wind was excellent it blew every day(20-40knots) that i was there, i took one day of because the smallest sail i had was a 4.7 and the wind was way to strong even for that. Coronations was good but got quite busy at times, and unless you are a confident jumper it might prove somewhat of a challenge...if you don't jump yet you will be by the time you get back. I spent most of my time in Geraldton itself sailing St Georges beach and Sunset beach, these were excellent spots for the intermediate sailor. St Georges for is flat water bump and jump, just watch out for the crayfish pots the ropes will pull you up pretty quick and Sunset for it beginner wave sailing. The caravan park at sunset beach backs right onto the water, just rig up carry your gear 15m and your in the water. I also stayed in a cottage($400 p/w for the cottage way cheaper then the caravan park) at Pt Moore for a few weeks, Pt Moore has pretty good sailing just watch out for the kiters and stay away from Hells Gates. The locals were all friendly offering lots of advice, tips and hospitality i would suggest you go and see Rik at Sailwest for all the info on local spots.

This will be the best holiday you will have in Australia...Well it was for me anyway, I'll be back again in Feb 2010....Here is a pic of Coronations in its glory.

The new port is being built at Spot X which is a couple of Km's away from Corros.
Corro's probably wont be affected, but who knows what will happen with sand movement etc.

See you there. Just banked the first $200 for our stay at sunset beach . Jet wants to go back at xmas as well.Looks like he will be "doing time" at Coles.

im coming up from sa. staying for jan. wave titles and the green head comp! should be awesome! is there power at the coro camp???

Only the noisy, smelly, generators some of the campers bring with them.
And of course the nice silent, eco friendly solar panels some others have.

i go a couple of times a year for the past 9 years and never been disappointed . the only problem is christmas its gets so packed out but still worth the trip . heres a vid i put together last time i was there . 20 -30 knts 7 out of 8 days sun up till sun down..... enjoy

I found it hard not to picture the scenes of those right hand point breaks being ripped apart on pin tail single fins from the movie.

Corro's is such a fun place to sail. cant believe they are gunna stuff it up

I am so going there now! even tho i was B4 i saw the vid im even more stoked now

i just hope there are more waves to jump off and ride.
