Without turning this into an environment discussion, why does it make you angry?
The roadworks are a little annoying when driving to Coros but the end result will be a better road I guess and don't think any of those trucks would get much in the way.
As long as it's windy and there are waves, we should all be happy.
Have a look at the linked documents. This all sounds like greenwashing to me. Everything framed under "renewables energy hub" but when you read on it turns out they are planning to build an ammonia plant. My guess is once that's gone through they will then go ahead with the original plans to build a deep water port with breakwater.
if you do some searching on Ammonia and Geraldton you'll find this is a done and dusted deal.
The "Strategic industrial area" and the Okajee Port are related but separate discussions. Obviously money-makers want their port to be where the industrial area is location, but it isn't a given.
Importantly for this discussion, there is also another project of the Geraldton ring-road, which in the planning phase (I dont know the exact status, I think it is already earmarked for future construction). The industrial area goods/services would then not need to route-via Geraldton.
In my humble opinion, the existing Geraldton port dredging has already upset the quality of the water at least up past Coronation beach (and has required sand-stabilisation in the north of Geraldton town). The water is quite turbid which will have a significant effect on the local fishing industry (likely detrimental, but I'm not an expert ... so I dont really know). Assuming that the dredging is bad for other industries, further dredging at Okajee will make that problem worse, and with the volume of dredging needed it will then extend the turbidity much further north.
