Never managed a sail down there yet but the Earl of Spencer is the best pub by far.

The one on the harbour front is not bad either. The White Star I think. next to the george.

I would avoid the London. (I think it may have closed anyway)

PM Evets as he sails there all the time.

I'm guessing any of the pubs will be ok unless you are looking for a couple of French chicks

Shane 'O sailed there over summer and had some good results giev him a call

Yep, heading down for a day trip

If the wind forecast comes good maybe try Nanarup which is quite a long bay (4wd probably required) so you should be able to get a reasonable wind angle but can be really quite heavy in a big swell...........

If you want flat water then Oyster Harbour.

Maybe a bit late to comment - got a text from evets who was rigging up near the brewery on Frenchmans Bay Rd this morning around 8.30am, though haven't heard how it went (I'm a local but off the water due to back probs). Wind has been 15-27k ESE all day with near continuous drizzle or rain since yesterday arvo!

Agree with leftfield that the pick would be the Earl of Spencer (cnr Earl & Spencer Sts), with the White Star (on Stirling Tce opposite footbridge) having regular live music.

Hi Darryl, did not see this until now. Great to see you on the water yeterday, I cannot believe you held onto that 7.8 for nearly 100kms. Hope to see you down here again. It paid off for those who did.

Hope u don't mind me spilling the beans Steve (evets) since there was a decent crew down from Perth on Sat!

Don't have GPS tracks but following images will give u an idea. Main launch area beside Frenchmans Bay Rd opposite Harding Rd, only sailable on mid-high tide and weed fin a must (another launch spot further south but often very busy with kitesurfers):

OK, Mandurah Mob got 6PBs, JJ I think got 3, and Darryl only got one, but he did have 2 2nd bests.
What a fantastic spot!
We stayed at Lilac Cottages, you can rig on their back lawn and launch from there if the tide isn't too low. If it is too low it's about 300m to the public rigging area.

Here's my tracks, Morning and afternoon combined, with the short car trip back to the cottages removed.
(In the morning it was too low to launch from Lilacs, but by lunch time it was fine)





And here's the speed run the next morning from our balcony at low tide.




When the tide comes in the run is through the middle of that weed.
So a good weedy is highly recommended, preferably a shortish low aspect design with 45deg or more rake.
