Tried dutchies this morning, bad move, wind very up and down and mostly down in the shorebreak, can anyone suggest somewhere Perth Metro thats more sideshore for these westerlies forecast for the next coupla days? Not everyone likes giving away their sailing spots but its winter and not exactly crowded on the water!

Checked my local about 10 times today and getting nothing but NW
Mullaz was fkn huge and W
South marina was dumpy and WNW
Metts W equals rock gardens both sides
TP was W which came with suicide on a plate
I was loaded with a twinnie and had to take it out... so I went to *COUGH!* Pinnapoo *COUGH!*
I should have done the bloody drive to Port
Maybe then I could have caught the car breaker-inner-er and given him a clip over the ears[}:)]

Woodman's Pt (bit boring)
Port Beach as mentioned already
Crazy Waves. A little hard to get out but much easier if you walk the 100m south to just before the groyne (Imena pt catherine not the south beach groyne)
Esperance (crosshore)
My new secret spot (crosshore)

Drove all the way down to Point Perron this morning but of course there wasn't any north in it and it was calm on the inside - not even getting any swell in there. Ended up sailing Woodmans - yep boring and loads of kiters out but nice and windy and the odd big windchop to launch off. Will check out port beach and the south beach area tomorrow if the wind hangs in - thanks for the info guys, guess I owe you a wave or two now!

Had a sesh yesterday and today at leighton - definately worth it - more onshore today but still do able with a clewed out bottom turn (scarbs style sailing) - definitley some reo opps to be had! nearly got some wave threeos in as well!

yesterday was a bit more sideshore but the wind was gustier
today was windier but more onshore..

got set up for some big lifters - there were definitely some decent kickers to launch off on both days

cruised down to outer cables - some nice fat ramps and smooth bottom turn to mega clewwed out reo there - but a fw more degrees onshore than leighton - prob a bit better than dutchies though due to the right hander coming at you off the bottom turn

the improved angle meant it was definitely worth going out down this end of town. but certainly not cruisey sailing

today it was just me and 4 or 5 kites (who were just going back and forth and doing absolutely nothing with the waves on offer)

Ive been told that Crystals needs mega wind to get a wave in there? Is this true?
Im guessing it needs the combo of mega wind and mega swell?
But needs more NW wind than W?

My new secret spot (crosshore)

So what have you named it? Marks Bar?
Is there anyone else windsurfing it with you?

Yeah that'll do.... but "Mark's Bar was pumping" sounds like a questionable movie
I needs solid westerly and 3m minimum, 4m would be sick. Fooollly sik.
She would be even better after the front on a SW. Who gets good frontside rides and jumps in a westerly hehehe

I was the only one out, don't think anyone sails it.

Forget crystals if the wind has gone past wnw - swell and wind WILL NOT get in - can be fun on a raging northerly with a chunky swell - but cott can get pretty good then too - and less of a drive.

long point - westerly - low tide and massive swell - worth a look

mandurah- check where the festuary comes out - halls head - most nthn part - gets pretty good in dead west with 3m plus of swell - good bommie out the back for big lifters - a great wrapping wave on the inside if the tide is right - and a bottle shop 20 secs walk from the car park.

none of these points get crowded - i'm usually sailing by myself and stressing about car thievery - would be good to sail with a few more crew

more good sailing days down south than you can poke a stick at - 15 know west in perth = 20 -30 knots and some joy around dunsborough

Would rather go to crystals for the normal tack wave jumping/riding

Heard good stuff about this place but still yet to score it

Checked it out a couple of times but had too much NW in it. Just like you it had a sick bombie breaking out near the marker and a good smooth wrapping wave down the point
