So guys,
im just about back into the wavesailing after a GOOD 10 years off, bought some well priced gear and about to get into things this summer.

So the question is - who else has done this? wot should i expect?
front loops on day one?

seriously, if youve done this please tell me what you found, is it like riding a bike?

...............................................or not

Cheers,
Heretic

I wouldn't be suprised if you are completely rooted after 15 minute in the surf after so long, we forget how much work it is when we do it all the time..

Also the jumps you where doing 10 years back seamed alot bigger in your mind..

But take it easy and you will wonder why you ever stopped in the first place..

It's not as windy as it used to be (or maybe I just need more to get going)

Hey man, i was in the same boat. I had 10 yrs out and picked it up again really quickly. I surfed in between which helped. Gybes and all of that were completed on my first session, surprised me really. Just get a board with a little float in it (im 85kg and had a 100l board which was ideal) 2 seasons later and im killing it, my first double back loop today, was sick! ha!
You'll be fine man, The kit has improved vastly too, get out there!

Same here, 10 years away and coming back. I was kitesurfing.

Funny how life goes around. Sold my kit one month after picking up a kite 10 years ago. Now I'm bored with kiting and dreaming of the good times windsurfing again.

I'm amazed at how much performance has increased in 10 years.

thanks for the comments people, so.... now i have a complete kit ready to go, waiting for the doctor to turn it on.

i am really interested to see whats changed and improved over the last 10 years or so. Im sure it has. Last board i had in the late 90's was a Wave Scalpel twin fin (Loosy Goosy, like a motocross bike) and NP Combats. (now you know where "heretic" came from!)

now the kit is a Starboard "Evo" and Naish Force's.

rdm yet??, no i dont think so.

oh, and the waist harness sizes have changed, now apparently Im a large..... strange that.

We're not sure who else to blame.

Best winter for years and its just stopped mid october and no sailable waves since you put up this post - so It must be your fault.

ok, first bump n jump shake down cruise done this arvo.

so the verdict for anyone interested?..... it IS like riding a bike, had a hour and a bit in grovely partly underpowered conditions. took a little bit to fine tune the harness and straps, but there it was....the joy of windsurfing. deja vous, i guess if you do something so much for a long time it becomes muscle memory maybe. board fitness lacking though.

i will definately need a 5.7 and some waves VERY SOON !!
