hey just wandering where the best place is around perth to get into wave sailing
this will be my second season and im pretty over sailing in the river

South passage up in Lancelin!!

Woodmans Point at Henderson, stick with the other windsurfers. Easy beach launching and water starting. There's no real currents, more of a bump and jump spot but would be good for starters. Stay well away from Scarbrough as it eats more gear than anywhere else, probably more so than Margs. Crazy waves, South Freo can be fun on westerlies, good for jumping on both tacks but watch the shore break on the way out. You'll meet some locals who can fill you in on the give way rules in the waves.

For first time waves try Dutch Inn, 30m ish south of the groyne, in a seabreeze. No shore break to contend with and a nice run-up to the wave. )If you can call it a wave )

Certainly forget places like Scarbs and South Passage!

Dutch Inn probably the best for a beginner. Ask some of the sailors there about the best place to launch / come in, because there are often submerged rocks just in from the beach.

After 15 years or so sailing at Dutchies I agree that it's good for us beginners...

Not sure if your serious or not but would not really class Woodies as a wave spot!! As you say 2nd beach good for starters bump and jump but I would say Pinaroo is more suited to this as its bit more bumpy and there is (sort of..) swell to get used to but no breaking waves
