wondering if anyone is using 80/20 foils on their side fins?

going to be trying some soon.

My witchcraft with the custom fins are around 80/20 and the most sophisticated i have seen so far

Thrusters with around 80/20 side fins are the go.

Been using this setup since late 90's thanks to genius shaper Marty Littlewood from delta designs.

He is no longer making sailboards but I have a couple of his fin sets left and have used them in a few different boards lately with good results.

80/20 side fins can handle a lot higher speed before cavitating compared to no inner foiled fins,
found this set up work great in lighter winds cross to cross off, you can generate and maintain more speed with every turn
on the wave just like surfing and point better than anything.

So for under 15kts I use thrusters & twins or quads for anything else.

Work great in my Black Box 107 in light cross to cross off and use the upright twin/trailer fin it came with for on shore conditions.

Assymetric foil is designed to work with toe. The right amount of toe-in.

So why not stay conventional? Or play with toe-in only?

I reckon if all you are after is more speed, toe could well do it for you. Or bigger single and smaller sidies...

I've played with conventional up till now and my board is as quick as single fin boards I've dragged through chop like the starboard code.

now I'd like to play with 80/20 and see how it sits with my board. I have some different sizes.

also been trying to track down a set of fcs styled bonzer fins similar to kite fins. a mate had some custom made in g10.

There have been huge fin-discussions on the boards/mpora forum about toe in and assymetric finprofiles.

About my Witchcraft: its a pretty specific flextail customboard with toe in made for not too fast waves, because I sail it mainly at the Northsea and the Atlantic Coast where the waves arent as fast as in the Pacific.
My custom Witchcraft fins are stiffer/more direct and precise as the K4 fins I use as well. that said, when the sea is a reall mess and its very choppy the more flexible K4 fins (Ezzy2degree frontfins and a Stubby in the back)work great as well, they are a cheap alternative to play with toe in and assymetric designs....
Both sets make the board faster DTL and help to intitiate the turn easier as a normall finset and goin fast enough to do pretty everything i like (i,m not much of a jumper, bu at our spots its planing all the time or get drifted away by the strong sideways currents of 5-8km p/h). The Witchcraft set is more precise and direct where the K4 fins are softer and offer some comfort in crappy conditions.

Hi, i've just got my hands on a 92L Jp single thruster.
I've got 3 center fins ranging from 21 to 23cm with the JP 10cm side fins
these are good/adequate for the general onshore waves/bump and jump.
I'm now wanting to set up for more side shore /down the line surfing and looking at getting a set of fins.
My questions is:
What are the size differences between the center and side fins i should be looking at.
18 Center, 14 Sides
17 Center, 15 sides...?
Sides will be asy with 1deg toe.
