has anyone owned used loved the rrd wave cult 55. i have been offered a very good deal on one.

any comment on how they are?

i think 2000 model. i will need to weigh it to make sure it hasn't taken water but it looks and feels solid.

The wave cult was a very nice board and at 84Lt should suit you as a high wind board Justin. Bearing in mind it is about 10 to 15 cm longer and at least 5 cm narrower than a new style wave board of the same volume.

I think it wouldn't be older than a 2001 model, as before that I am pretty sure the wave cult was named by it's length. I know the 2000 MPE was definitely named by length.

It is length: 255. If it says Cult FiftyFive it is the older one. If it says Cult55 it is a bit newer.

I had the CultSixty of same age and they are a great wave riding board. Not as early to plane as newer boards obviously.... but I find that the old ones handle chop so much better due to the Vee in them. New school widestyle with concave up front is fine and they ride well but they are aweful in 30kn and chop.

They are as close to indestrucible as you will get.

the board will be used for high wind bump and jump so it looks like it'll do the job. hopefully it weighs in at the right weight. i want somehting that sits in the water and handles air when it hits 30 knots.

markaus - certainly does seem very strong board. tapping the deck has a nice sound. it's the cult fiftyfive. i don't mind oldschool when the winds pumping.

jamie - i missed out on the MPE. i decided to wait until after xmas and it was sold.

You didn't miss anything: the MPE had mega thin rails in the back and was a ripper DTL waveboard but less suited to B&J than the Cult series.

you'll love it in 30kn and taking big airs and flat landings. They are hard to hurt

i'm not at the huge air stage but i can do flat landings.

I had the 260 and it was a sweet board as Mark said not super early to plane but definately turned well on the wave. I actually really wish I still had mine! My old one is still being used at my local spot so this backs up the RRD quality. Whats the good price your getting on this board I definately wouldn't be paying much more than <$300 unless it's in really super condition, as it is close to ten years old now!

it's less than $300. i don't want to say the price in case i don't buy it and the seller wants to sell it elsewhere.

it has been in storage for a couple of seasons now. i asked the guy to weigh it today so fingers crossed.
