Looks like there might be a bit of wind next week. Where should I go to get a bit of wave action around Perth?

crazy waves. launch at south beach, then ride down to the sandbar 800m south of the rock groyn. great bump and jump but no DTL unfortunately.

crazys, nothing like gybing on those boomerang shaped waves.

Well the development was supposed to change the movement of the sand on the sea floor and make the sandbank deeper (less likely to break)

Fair enough I don't sail it as much now, but people tell me it is lucky to be head hi in most winter storms. I remember that was about minimum, with a few logo hi days each winter.

Certainly in the last 2 winters I reckon it has been much smaller than before.

The waves are crap, gearie's may be a tad better.
But in side the reef at Avalon can be a blast.

It's only the first front of the season. I doubt there will be a bank at Crazies yet.
I think Mark is right about the size of the "waves" there, or maybe I was more of a gumby then and they seemed bigger (I'm not much less of a gumby now admittedly)

so any other good north facing beaches worth while checking out or do i just have to do the drive from warnbro to freo real early??

I take it that you launch from the south side of the groyne at the south end of south beach? And that its tough to get outside the break if its too westerly?

and should i be going for more speed runs???

Probably the earlier the better... I'm looking to clear some work from my desk and then get down there about 11am. Might see you there?

I think so?
It could be a 5m swell and zero knots and the place would be flat as a tack.
If it did break then people would be surfing it.

Well, it was gusting 35 knots and more down at crazies today.

Interesting to say the least. I think I enjoyed 'stretching out' on the flat sections (makes V8 sound) in between the 2-3 foot 'waves/chop' better than the crazy chop itself - mostly due to being a tad overpowered on my 5m (smallest sail) which made some of the jumps a bit hairy.

Hmmm, maybe speed sailing is the go in these conditions! Now where was that flatwater?
