Anyone else on the coast get one? A few of us scored Birubi today. Patchy at times but at least there was 1-2ft of a wave breaking compared to everywhere else. On 4.5-4.7 size sails, couple of sharks sighted, couple of smacks to be had, all good.

went windfishing on my stand up. Caught a 3kg salmon.

Had fun in the 5-30 knot winds with my 5.0.

I think here in the Gong even measuring the surf size in mm would be optimistic. Have also never seen such a cyclic/gusty westerly before...so ****e. Gave it a miss.

Ain't it risky sailing off the beach in a westerly? Anything breaks and its a long way to the next piece of land. When i lived in the gong and went out in the waves I wouldn't sail off the beach in a strong westerly. The waves were usually pretty non existant anyway.

Pretty safe at the beaches that wrap around enough for a westerly to be cross-shore.
ie. East Corrimal, Port Kembla, Warilla, etc.

On the big board it feels safe, had my wave gear rigged so it should be able to handle cruising. Also I would just paddle in without the sail if everything went totally wrong. I sailed from warilla to bass point and back. Caught the fish about 100 metres from the beach when I was getting back.
