I'm looking to get a wave board now i have a real job and am not a uni bum.

I'm 90 kg intermediate to advanced sailor i guess. I have a 100L freeride (JP 268 55 wide 2001 model) and a 99L starboard Flare freestyle board.

I'm interested in all aspects of windsurfing: Wave, freestyle and going fast.

I guess I want something that will get me out in around 17-25 knots here in perth at one of the beach breaks.

What sort of volume should i be going for? I'm thinking something around the 85-90L range.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

For Perth conditions and your weight I would recommend a minimum of 90-95litres with volume in the tail (freestyle wave).

Jp real world wave 92. Really quick floaty awesome board!

good production wave boards for us in the 90kg+ group are fairly scarce.

think starboard do a big evo and code

rrd may have a biggy too.

Customs are prob ur best bet, try and get a tailor made board from one of the local shapers:-

Mr Stone, Mr Nude, Mr Juice

OR Mr OES over in SA

Go the FSW

It will get you used to different gybing and slower to plane - but not as slow to plane as a waveboard.
It is ideal for Perth that rarely has real waves anywhere
With a big fin it will freeride pretty well, with a small fin it will loosen up and be pretty good for waveriding

RRD is pick of the bunch (faster, controllable, OK wave use)
JP is second (more wave oriented than the RRD by a shade)

Go for a stoneboard (SSD)Mark will make one to suit your needs re:volume and type of sailing you prefer.

95 to 100 litre fsw 58 to 62 cm wide second hand production that has good test reviews. plus a decent 25cm wave fin for the days with a bit of swell.

I can reccomend RRD wave cult quads for waves. Probably go 92L. I weigh around 88kg and my only board is an 83L RRD quad.

I don't really want to get a freestyle wave as I have a freestyle and I can learn to compensate for any slowness or whatever of a wave board.

I''ve been windsurfing for about 10 years. Had a few years where I didn't go out much but got back into it hard this season.

I'm trying to learn forwards by doing some flat water loops on my freestyle and i've been learning vulcans. Can jump no problem so I think I want a pure wave board.

92L Starboard Quad. I am 88kg and I love it
I have the 82L Quad and the 103L kode as well, and I cant say a bad thing about them
This is the wind range I use them in
103L kode 15 to 25knts
92L quad 18 to 30knts
82L quad 25 to 40knts

As you can see I use the 92L alot.GREAT BOARD

JP Thruster 93 or 99 I've got the 93(100kg) and love it. 2 boards in 1, Run it as a high wind bump and jump board with the single fin or slow it down with the thrusters for the waves, Super slashy and throws buckets of spray.

hey mate check out the chopper 90. dimensions 2240x610. It has a twinfin setup.

have heard nothing but good things about the fanatic quads... easily the most popular quad this season i reckon

I'd be interested in having a go on the nude boards, shame they couldn't have a demo board in the ACT or Gerroa.

Ask me nicely and you can have a go on my 99lt some time.I was at gerroa last monday(very light n/e).
