I might have a few months work on the Gold Coast and I don't know anything about the wave sailing scene there.

Is there good spots to get waves? what wind direction?

If I come up it will be for the next 2 months.

Ok so...

Over summer leading up to Christmas we get the North Easter trades. Sometimes they blow 20-25but are normally 15-20. You're best bet if it's north to North East is to cross the border and sail either cudgen, Suffolk park (near byron) or flat rock. Equally, if it's a southerly front then flat rock will be good by on the opposite tack. Too SE and Flat Rock becomes too onshore to be really good. When that happens Currumbin is your go...

Be warned. Coming from WA you should lower your standards for wind. Bring a big board. You'll get some sick sessions if you have gear that's catered more towards light wind

I have been enjoying sailing some of the east coast spots again so far this season, I do have some bigger sails 5.5m and even a 6m, W.A wasn't always windy. I thought Flat rock was the go for weekend sails. Look forward to checking out some new spots.

I have a Freestyle board if I get desperate during the week.

Just had a week family holiday at Rainbow Bay/Coolangatta early October. Surfing - it's great for mini mal or SUP & also if the wind is from the S/SE.

Wind for the week was 2-3 days of N/NE then wind turned SSE/SE for a couple of days. I had 3 sails but ripped my 5.6 in half in big surf at Ballina
(flat rock) on the trip up so not quite windy enough for 5.0 on a couple of days.

NE I sailed at Hastings Point. Just walked down from the carpark. Cross shore, small swell but some ok wind swell. Sailed at Duranbah in SSE, the
beach next to the breakwall. Not much swell and sailed in the channel and then into Fingal Beach next to the huge industrial pier.

If it's too south prob head up to Gold Coast proper at Narrow neck. At D'bah you can stay well out and away from the surfers. SSE is good, ideal
would be SE. It's a bit spooky being way out and there are strongs currents from the Tweed river and lumpy waves that pitch so you need to
concentrate. Over the years I've only ever seen the odd sailor out there even though to launch is pretty easy. Most just go to Currumbin I expect.

Currumbin is popular in NE as well. Onshore but good if 20 knots. NE are stronger in northern NSW as Bowsa said and 5-5.5 with a bigger wave board
or f/w then happy sailing.

Flat rock is 65 min from Coolangatta but mostly expressway so 60 minutes if windy!

No wetsuit needed but most Queensland surfers get worried if it drops below 20 degrees.

Good variety to choose from. Depends on your ability.
What are you used to sailing?

Waves, all of W.A and N.S.W get a bit worried in logo to mast high beach breaks apart from that all good.
