Hi Windsurfers from Australia!
has anyone here ever been wavesailing in Tasmania ?
I am planning a trip to Marrawah in January...and i asked myself about the conditions there. Is it a daily sailing spot ? Is it a place where people stay 6 weeks for windsurfing or should i plan a stop in Perth for 10 days ? Its hard to find people who know the place...all i know is about nice waves and "a lot of wind". Is the direction also mostly good for sailing ?
Should I also bring my small board (i am over 90 kilos and have 79l JP hardcore wave and a 93l) and the small sails (4,4-5,6) ?
would be great to get some feedback.

depending on were u are from and if u own a bloddy good steamer .... hey ive got a better idear .. stop in on east coast of australia .. beaches are sandy /clean water / varly reefs ....anny were from woolongong up to qld border is tones of awesome sailing spots .. never crowded ...what time of year u planing?

i am from Europe.. three days ago i was sailing in a storm (8-9 in gusts 11) in the Netherlands with 12 degrees air and 10 degrees water. but I have a o`neill psycho 2 which is superwarm if you wear another thing under it :-). beaches are sandy /clean water / varly reefs...is what i think to find at the Spots around Marrawah. I will be there from the beginning of January till almost middle February :-) I am looking for very very nice clean long waves up to 4m if they are fast and its shallow. If they are slow and the water is deep i don`t really care about the size anymore after a few days of
getting back into it.

In regards to Marrawah, it has some awesome spots to sail. If you can find local Justin Tapson "Tappo" he will point out the best locations in the area.

If on the East Coast of Australia there are some excellent spots right from Victoria to Queensland. You won't get big swell but the prevaling NORTH - EAST seabreazes can get up to 30 knots consistantly in some places like Gerroa on the NSW southcoast and Woolgoolga on the north coast of NSW.

i am not into competition at all. I will not go for any "titles" but for the fun:-). i am a engaged freetimesurfer with some wave experience from different hardcorespots. i just want to have insane conditions as often as possible like we all do. guess i will try wa next year and stay in tas for all the vacation. thanks anyway ! Most possibly i will take all my stuff with me to be equipped for any kind of conditions. hope its windy there! and also a few other windsurf addicts around:-) on the spots.

west coast of tassie can be really good. greens, bluff and furries are the most commonly sailed beaches, and there is BOL near west point which is good when the swell is over 4M but it's pretty heavy.

tassie can blow its tits off but can also be light. but bring the small sails..

but on the west coast you will be sailing by yourself most of the time, some people don't like that.

Claus, tassie is sick. Well worth the trip. Great sailing. Take lots of gear as you'll use everything, and if you break it you won't be buying replacements. If your camping stay at greens, right on the beach and free. You can eat at the pub, sometimes. I highly recomend it, been there 4 or 5 times and loved it. Waters good that time of year, 3/2 steamers the most you'll need. You'll love it.

Lots of places around Tassie to sail in waves

Around hobart most head around South arm.

3 main beaches, clifton, sandpits, and Goats head all within around 5 minutes of each other. Do a google maps on south arm, Tasmania

Unfortunately there is no where to hire stuff, and as mentioned before, all new stuff gets ordered and shipped in.

if your getting the ferry across, i might be able to go over too.

i've got some spare kit ,, maybe all you woold have to bring is your harness and a mast... oh and a boom, should be ok with boards and sails. got 3 boards and a rake of sails.

i'd love to spend a few days in tazzy, wouldn't have a clue where to go though.

well here its pretty nice and windy and good to be back on the water...
and it looks like an epic week is coming up !!!
I wonder why noone is here for sailing those magic spots :-)
But yes I can live with an empty break..see u on the water.

Nope thats Leon Jammer. he has been living down there for a month or so with Al McLeod. Looks like those boys have got plenty of sailing in

I am not sailing in the clip..it was my first session after 2,5 mths and I really needed time to recover from my desk..
I had quite some conditions to get back into sailing, but still waiting for more pressure...
which is announced, but till now nothing sailable arrived since 3 days..maybe next session in half an hour

awesome place..supernice people..and soon a place that will show up some high-wind sailing starboard tack..port tack..forecast looks awesome...2 more weeks to go...already had some world class waves :-)

does anyone know a place for wavesailing near Port Arthur
or Bruny Island in a NNE or NE Winddirection ??? would be a big help to
decide about what to do in the next days...
