The 2010 Australian National Wave Sailing Titles in Margaret River 3-6th February is set to be an event you dont want to miss.

There will be a number of guaranteed positions available for competitors representing each state / territory so make sure your best wave sailors arent riding moto x bikes in the next couple of months or doing something stupid to injure themselves before the event.

Wavesailing injuries whilst attempting to nail the double forward can probably be forgiven....

In addition to the fact Margaret River has some of the most consistent swells on the west coast with fantastic cross / off winds for wave sailing, it's also a great place to spend a week whether you want to bring the family or come by yourself to party. There is always a healthy contingent of friendly backpackers / tourists around especially during summer.

what's the scoop if people travelling from overseas are around. was an issue at the last margs comp, and I think peter volwater and other were allowed to enter.

How times have changed, the way things are going for Tiger Wood's, he may be looking for a new sport.

That'd be a great financial decision! Not sure if Nike and Gatorade would follow him over to windsurfing though.

Maybe an all in one comp with an all out winner, then and the highest ranked Aussie gets the Aussie title crown and some cash..

I originally thought we need to only run the Aussie titles however lots of peoples comments over the last few months have made me reconsider that aspect. We will definitely be focusing on the Aussie titles first and it is going to be something that requires registrations well before the day of competition.

There are 70 competitors max (currently looking at something like 10 womens, 10 juniors, 10 masters, 40 Open) and if this is not filled by aussies wanting to be part of the action then i think we will definitely have an international division or something to make the most of the effort that goes into organising the event. The fact that MR shire will only allow one competition per year of this type means we definitely need to make the most of it and as Birdseyeview pointed out in the last thread, it's the big names that many sponsors into the future will want to see or be involved with. Luckily we have some good sponsors for this years event. I personally believe we should run the aussie titles part of the event first and have a result. If we have good conditions over all four days then there is more than enough time to add an international division to the end and it would be good to then have the best placed Aussies out there competing with any international superstars.

Obviously this is something that cannot easily be locked away just yet as we need to make sure the aussie titles are successful in their own right and getting good conditions at wave sailing events is always touch and go.

One way or another we will have an Aussie titles, even if that resorts to a beer sculling competition in the carpark.

PS. I've only recently been spending lots of time sailing in MR but have to say, i'm pretty confident the conditions should not dissapoint us. Second best place in WA only to the Loo in my opinion and much more chance of getting good swell.

Apparently there are plenty really good wave sailing spots south of Wollongong... according to Whyner... just a bummer he won't tell anyone where they are...

... plus I can think of another spot in WA besides Margaret River and GLoo... only problem is if I write the name here I'll probably get stoned to death.

Margs is a cert for a good event - most years it will be sailable (and i mean properly sailable) 80% of the days dec - March - as it works off 2 weather patterns.

AND the climate change that is strangling the seabreezes in Perth and lanno actually drives the breezes at Margs to be stronger. So its just getting better down there.

The margs lip really sorts the men out from the boys - with some real guts,experience, skill and timing needed not to destroy all your gear from sending it down the mineshaft of doom- should be an awesome spectacle.

I hear Sir Pat Redman is back in training - that guy dominates the place like no one else - so pray you dont end up in his half of the draw!
