That's great - met the guy a few years back in Punta San Carlos, really nice bloke.

Can you ask him about IWT vs PWA, more specifically:

How to reconcile the need to get the riders to compete in the best conditions possible (IWT) while drawing crowd and sponsors (PWA)?

My personal view is that the IWT is a nice, ideal view of the world but not practical; nice for the riders but ultimately too far from the public and the average windsurfer; i understand riders' frustration with the PWA and having to compete in SYLT but attracting crowd, public, ad and media coverage is the sustainable way for windsurfing competition. Plus, in my books, if you can't compete and win in crappy / not ideal conditions, then why should one be a challenger for the best windsurfer in the world?

Anyway, would be good to have his views on the question...

Thanks Mr Van Bellen and Mr Glasson. Mr Glasson is very eloquent and deserves a medal and some honours for his investment and the great work he is doing for windsurfing with the IWT positioning as the best fit for this part of the world. The PWA is great but works off a different more expensive business model and for a limited elite group. The IWT idea for surf slalom is a great idea. Also note: the recognition for the power of the Windsurfer LT in developing grass roots; the sailing club as the engine room of growth; the brilliance and lightness of Ezzy sails; the relevance of surf culture in Australia; fallout of Bernd v. Naish; the new Naish team; the local wave sailors of NSW and elsewhere in Australia who would likely be threats in a competition held at their local breaks; and much more.

Feb 21 national event in WA? Chances of that happening are near zero unless someone miraculously pulls out a vaccine from nowhere.

I do like your optimism though.

Good to see the IWT is in good hands for the brotherhood of windsurfing. Cheers.

If they start scoring transitions at Hookipa again I guess Boernd Roediger will be unbeatable with his immaculate tacks going full speed down the wave face aiming upwind. Such a pleasure to watch.

Unfortunately not,Richard G. But if you have the time and patience to go through the live stream footage of Roedigers heats at the Aloha classics 2017-2019 you will find plenty of those. Speaking about that, I recall a totally unexpected textbook goiter(truly out of the blue) he nailed at the last aloha and got the highest scoring wave. No one dared to go for such a move that day. You could hear the crowd exploding, like a bomb detonating... wow, goosebumps.. That guy has talent inxs even for hookipa standards imho. Its a pity about the fallout with Naish.
