Stumbled upon this vid on utube, not sure what year it was filmed, but has all the big names and some great music.

I wave sailed Namotou and some spots on the main island in the '80s before the resort was built, but have not been back since '93.

Does anyone know what it is like know that the resort is there ?
Would also love to know the music playlist for this movie?

It was 1997 and I was lucky enough to be one of the international judges at this amazing event with Mark Paul. I recall sitting on the judges boat and watching the sailing but keeping one eye on the big sets coming through and being prepared to jump overboard as we were that close to the impact zone.

We didnt stay on Namotou but at Plantation and caught the boat over with the competitors.

A couple of contributors have been there more recently and it is very different now.

Lets just say I had an awesome time

Would have been a great experience.

We stayed in a fishing village near Plantation and the guys would drop us out to Namotou on the way out fishing and pick us up on the way back. Had a couple of close encounters with the reef in their boat when big sets came through

Looks like the conditions were awesome for the final.

I recall the last section of the wave wraps around the corner of the reef, and can be great for aerial off the lip if you are ready for it, or can catch you by surprise if not.
