It was a good day for sure but to say in the report it was mast high is a tad of an exaggeration...... Maybe you were using the mast I snapped two foot above the boom as a guide.

Most of the waves weren't, but the one referred to in the event report, which Forrest got his aerial off was pretty close to mast high.

Rule of thumb for calling surf size;

If your speaking to someone that was there to see, half your estimate.

If your speaking to someone who wasn't there to see, double it.

Good report

Just wanted to say a special shout out to first time competitor Chris Wood, when I was watching after the event, he was really ripping. Here is a photo of a sick bottom turn from Chris.

We have had the most new members join this season in many years, its great to see and I hope to see more newbies at the last 2 events early next year.

This means you too Craig from Canberra!

Was it actually as windy as it looked? Some of those shots looked 40kts

It was difficult sitting on the beach and watching with my injured foot!

Probably 25-30kt gusts.

Got it stuck in my strap and fractured a bone. A few weeks ago. Should be good in another week or so

Bummer. Feet are the worst thing to heal. At least it's a bone and not ligaments.

I think this picture sums up the day. Don't know the sailor, I just picked up camera between sessions to capture the day and found this beautiful jump.

staffan, that photo is awesome! Doogs is the sailor. Best on the water that day I reckon. His aerials are so good to watch - speed, height and a cool casual kick or tweak to em.
not taking anything away from Forrest though his aerial was aerial of the day!
ahhh the memories..... Feels kind of hollow now Gerroa has peaked for the season. Back to 2 ft slappers
and you're right, the shot sums up the day very nicely.

yeah, agree.

just watched the vid on stalkbook of the day. his turns are a level above, just more rail and critical.

all the footage is great and sick to look back on, but the memories from the water are the most spectacular.

brett and i bobbed over forrests wave as he hit the lip, just frothing after it.
