Well, after you saved us, we thought you hadn't been very nice with the Germans, so we entered into a friendly relationship with them.
And with regards to the Spanish; Spanish girls are cute so we need to consider Spain as a very strategic partner in general.

Did anyone get out over the weekend? I was driving back from Brisbane and stopped in at a place called (I think) Flat Rock just north of Ballina - it looked amazing with two out. Woolgoolga was blowing about 25-30 knots. Yesterday all down the coast was looking excellent.

Can't believe I didn't have any kit with me!!

Looks like Northside has the comp in the bag as the wind's suggesting a SUP event...

Flat Rock is one of the best Southerly locations up that way. Pretty sharky though.

Windang was pretty good as well... especially between 1 and 3pm. Solid mast high in the better sets and cross off most of the time at about 20 to 25 knts. Only a handful of people on the water so plenty of waves for everyone to be had.

Crash,
I have sailed at Flat rock a couple of times on the (mostly) annual QLD trip, great waves in a southerly. I've also sailed there in a NE'r. That was bloody good as well, cross shore and smooth right next to the rock shelf.

On the weekend I got out at Collaroy and it was 3m plus sets, wind a bit sketchy though as quite south and SSW in the morning so no good then.

In opinion it's too far out to really make a call. There isn't a really strong system anywhere south that could bring a strong Southerly. But then again it wasn't supposed to be 25 knts Saturday afternoon either.

I think the Wednesday outlook might tell a bit more.

Could be an early sail at Windang on Saturday. At present the wind looks to drop off rapidly around 11am. Rego location and event site will be posted on Thursday night / Friday morning.

Teams can comprise around 4-6 members with bonus points awarded to our older, younger and less male competitors. So mix up your team to take advantage of the bonus point system.

The sailing format typically runs as follows. Length of competition is wind dependent but may run for 1-2 hours. Only 1 member of each team is on the water at once. Each competitor will need to 'claim' the wave they wish to be scored on so tactics plays a part. Points are only awarded for me the waves you claim. Each competitor will need to tag off with their team mate before they can enter the water. The judges will run through the specifics on the day.

BBQ, AGM and SEason Presentation will be in Gerroa followed by a night at the Fishos.

Hope to see everyone there. Which team are you in - Northside, Southside, South Coast or Europe
Cheers all

Does Northside get a bonus point for having you in the team?

There are extra points for girls and youth - so I want for a 16 year old girl from the northern beaches! That does not sound good - but I was just hoping to double up!

I've seen green arrows and even a NE on the Friday

All,

The call is for registration to be at Windang on Saturday. It seems that the wind may die early, so registration will be from 8am til 9am and we will begin the comp immediately after. Windang was really good last Saturday; hopefully we'll get the same conditions. Please register early and get rigged so that we can make the most of the morning.

As Mr President loves to say “Windang is located about 25 minutes north of Gerroa and is a great venue if conditions are southerly. Windang Island protects the waves from being chopped up while south or south easterly winds allow great down the line sailing. The banks can manage large swell and break well out sea for long rides and run up for boosting large jumps.

TO GET THERE Turn off Windang rd. into Fern street and continue past the Windang Beach Tourist Park. There is plenty of parking behind the surf club.”

Also, if you have windsurf gear (old or new) that you can donate to teach venturer scouts with, please bring it to this weekend and Jason Juretic will take it off your hands. Thanks a lot for them.

See you all this WE for the best event of the year and to have the pleasure to acclaim the Euro team while they take their last steps before reaching the Grail.

Cheers,

Francois

Forecast looks great + The Windsurfing Shed has provided some great prizes and items to auction. Bring your money with you! Remi from The Windsurfing Shed has really thrown support behind this event and personally been very generous which will only add to the quality of the event.

A few gourmet surprises for the BBQ as well are planned for the AGM night in Gerroa.
see you there!

Top weekend was had by all! Saturday had good southerly winds and waves all day at Windang. A bit tricky with some of the currents but the outer bank started to break in the afternoon!

Congratulations to team Europe who claimed the win for the Teams Event. NSW WA kindly put on a free BBQ for all in Gerroa. The AGM was run so congratulations to the new committee members. The Association is in a healthy position both financially an in terms of management for the coming season. First event will be a social type to clean the cobwebs out late August/early September. Full calendar and event report will be on the website once its all written.

On Sunday a few of the NSW WA boys helped out at the Disabled Surfers event. Really great to share the joy of surfing with others.

Finally thanks to The Windsurfing Shed for their generous support and great prizes. If you get a chance check out their prices for Maui Sails and Exocet.

Cheers everyone for your support of the Association.

Great event! Good wind, good waves and lots of fun. The level of sailing has improved massively this year.

Having an opportunity to help The Disabled Surfing Association was the highlight of the weekend - what an awesome idea. Will definitely help out again when I can.

Did anyone happen to get pictures from Windang? Adrien, have you finished editing the video?

And of course, thanks has to go out to Tim who has been an excellent President of the NSWWA and by all accounts helped to put on an excellent Nationals.
