I have only this year started wavesailing again after 10yrs on the strings. I love both sports and want to see a combined event similar to what they do in SthAmerica?, probably incorporating surfing(shortboard/mal/sup). Sup windsurfing in <12knts is also an option. I liked the Mambo comp, but I didn't like the hard-partying aspect of it, I wouldn't take my kids(now getting into kiting/sailing) to Mambo. Maybe I'm getting too old/responsible?. IMO comps are a great reason to reconnect with friends and push yourself a bit harder than normal out on the water. I will be at the Woopi event this year, I just wish there were more northcoast comps, with more reason to get people motivated to go. If there are 2-3 X-over sports to ensure some participation no matter what the weather, it might draw more interest.
Hey Ma, here in SA we have the Onbord Robe Easter Classic and we always have Wavesailng, Kites and SUP combined all weekend, always a great vibe between the crews. check it out on the events section.
Tah Jimbob, I just had a look at the chat about it. That's pretty much what I was wishing for. I imagine an event like that would start off by a few like-minded people getting together for an annual weekend of camping, BBQ's and waves. I am on the midnorth coast, and willing to spend a couple of hours on the road with the family to get away for a weekend. That puts it somewhere between Taree and Ballina. Any suggestions for a location and time/date frame?, without giving away too much local info that is. I am all for protecting local hotspots. How did the Robe event start/evolve? With any luck I will be sailing or kiting in X-off 20knts in a little over 8 hours from now, but I'm sitting here getting amped about a weekend away that doesn't even exist yet. Any suggestions?
