Have any one got any info on how JP Quad behaves as Twin?
Is it marketing stuff or.. do the rip as a twin and quad?

If you run it with two fins it will rip as a twin.

If you run it with four fins it will rip as a quad.

I guess this is one case where the marketing stuff doesn't lie.

Sounds like a nice concept to get a board that works as a Quad and a Twin.
So have anyone actually used there JP Quad with the twin setup?

i'm pretty sure, that the quad is exactly the same shape as the twin, just with 2 extra fin boxes.

Yeah - the JP Quads are pretty good for freestyle - although it really depends what you're trying to do. They are awesome for moves like Flakas and shakas - the carving ability and small fins really help. For the moves requiring pop like spocks and grubbys they are still good but only really when they're powered up, otherwise the lack of volume in the tail doesn't give the required pop and slide...

I compared ET 74 and Quad 71 and the shape looked pretty much the same for a none professional eye. (sorry no pics).

I wounder how the bigger JP Quad would be as an light wind wave board.

1) I Like the quad idea with lots of drive (generate speed) and grip on big cross off days and slow waves.

2) Make the quad to a twin on cross on days for snappy slashy rides.

Would a JP quad (92) be the fit? or any one got experience of Starboard Quad 86?

Hi smurfing, the jp quad and twin are the same board, only dif is the quad has the extra boxes. I've ridden both and find the quad better as it has abit more versatility as you can ride it as a twin or quad. Having said that though I personally use it as a quad as I find it better in both crosson ( due to the pointing ability) and cross off ( due to the shorter fin lenth= looser).
For planing freestyle I find they tend to spin well due to smaller fins, but the twin does ALS for the same reason. Hope that helps

ive used the 92 quad as a light wind board (I'm down to 70kg) at gnaraloo, lano and at a secret spot down south and have had a ball as have a few of my mates who didnt believe it could be such a good light wind board for smaller blokes. I never had any dramas holding a rail and the 92 holds its speed on a wave especially well. ( it has much less tail kick than the 82 which is pretty radical).
Some crew rekon as a twin it pivots more on the wave but i like it as a quad for the "get out of jail free cards" it dishes out when you land an aerial a bit crossed up it will catch and straighten up rather than spin out, particularly in whitewater. I think some of the bigger guys liked it more as a twin because thay had the weight to throw it around a touch more, but i think it depends more on what riding style you bring to the table and wether you adapt you style to you boards or not.

Just one more thing, does the 92l feels like a 92l has it got the float (80kg), and has it got a fast rocker line? As I have not seen one is the deck flat or domed?

I'm used to starboards which is got very flat deck and well balanced boards.

Mmm that sounds good.....maybe a thruster / single / twin configuration...that would be completely cool

how many bloody fin boxes do you want in one board!!! i think there will always be a place for single fins. hope they dont get rid of them.

yer jp wave will be single with thruster option.
all new kauli quads. which are twins with quad option.
same polakow twin with quad option.
should be sweet.

Found this pic on the internet of JP on a quad with swallow tail, wonder if that is one of his custom boards or a test pre-production board?

pretty sure that is a custom. the polakow quad is the same shape as this years polakow twin.

About time JP made wholesale changes to their spray and colours. Lucky their boards rip other wise I would not have got one as I reckon they are preeeeeetty ugly. [}:)] Yes, I love me FSW102 to ride but I reckon there are others RRD for eg that looks heaps sexier.

Intersting on swings and roundabouts with fins. In WA thrusters were all the go on wave boards 12 - 15 yrs ago pre epoxy boards.
