Great work again Frans. You certainly picked a good consistent month of easterlies to go exploring! I like your appropriate choice of music. In the 1st track there's a line about not being blinkered which fits rather well when looking for wave sailing opportunities in the easterlies....

Lol a bit over the top to remove the video, you WA dudes take your **** seriously eh. Most 'secret spots' are secret for one of two reasons: a) they are remote/hard to get to b) they only work in specific conditions, which are usually not super common.

Both of these reasons preclude said spots from having 10 camper van loads of euros or east coast ring ins from rocking up 'causing a crowd'. WA's most famous 'secret spot' can be seen with the naked eye from probably the most famous/popular windsurfing location in WA and people get all in a tis about that one being 'outed' too.

In the age of Google earth you can survey the coast for epic spots from the comfort of your lounge, it's not rocket science, it's the reason I gave above that they stay 'low traffic', nothing to do with 'secrecy' imo.

Curac there was one spot there that has not been on video in a recognisable way, nor has it been in a photoshoot and certainly not the company you refer to.

CJ, google earth is not your friend as it does not show how deep the water is and all it shows is angle of shore in relation to prevailing wind and maybe a track to get in there. But put it with all the other things like vids and forums....

Anyway I did not call for it to be removed, and even if Douchie did I reckon it would not have been removed for that reason.

Top marks to Frans for a great video, I just think that now there is so many people doing it and they go to such a wide audience that maybe people should show just the sailing and a bit less scenery. Less arty or lifestyle I know but hey we all watch for the sailing anyway right?

That beach claims at least 2 4wd's a year, bogged and lost to the tides..
I've lived their for 33 yrs. So yep, thats 66 4wds.

Not sure I agree with you Mark. I reckon the surfing and sailing vids that just show action are a bit like watching porn; they lack a story! I like the extra bits Frans puts in his vids because they give a nice sense of place. Each to his own I guess...

I think it sucks that this video has been taken down before I got to watch it.

I dont think it matters if you put video up sailling at secret spots - as long as you dont advertise the location / give directions how to get there.

I agree how do you expect someone to know where it is by showing one rock.
If your down that way and find it by chance good on ya its called exploring.

Next trip i plan i might tell the boys i know its on the south coast somewhere not sure what town its in but i do know it has a bloody big rock there.Anyone keen to come along.I dont think so!.....Mind you my mountain bike trips a bit like that.

and all the critical eastern states windsurfers need to try living at one of these spots which WAS pristine and friendly sailing with right of way rules etc

then after a while it is drop in wave snake central with rubbish everywhere with used dunny paper blowing around (yes, really) and food containers and beer bottles everywhere

then those 'tohter siders may not be so quick on the red thumbs


it used to be 20yrs from stage 1 to stage 2 as it took people ages to find out, now it is a damn sight faster with google, online surf guides, every man and his dog with a quality camera and online fora like this

I can understand why a bloke who spent days in his fourby looking for awesome breaks which are then shared by a few fellas to escape the euro invasion, gets a bit p!ssed when it is outed.... can't you?

I am NOT having a go at Frans, I am making general comments - Eastern States ppl can red thumb after they have lived in WA and experienced it.

Fellas I don't agree with the "one rock" comments or "no directions in the video" as we all know people email around and ask where it is, and as previously seen some people on this forum (not from WA!!!) have openly responded

I was more poking fun at the slapstikery this thread, of course I respect local spots, but censoring videos is what happens in North Korea and Pakistan, not windsurfing..

Frans puts effort into making what sounded like one of the best videos on Seabreeze, and then gets bullied into removing his hard work because there was a rock in the video. Its not a good look..

If this spot was really that hard to find, I think its safe... Or if it is easy to find and get to, it would have been outed 30 years ago and is the equal property of citizens of earth. If Citizens start dropping in on locals, they get their tires slashed.

Expansion is a fact of life
Maybe we could attempt to focus more attention on educating on how to look after the spots and keeping them pristine as opposed to vainly attempting to keep them hidden or a secret from anyone else.

More people have been deprived the pleasure of watching the vid than the selfish two or three people who get pleasure from sailing that spot.

Not calling anyone a kook but this vid is along the 'locals only' mindset.

Never thought my vid would stir up such heated discussions! But it's good, everyone can have their opinion.
Took it off as I don't wanna offend anyone... but as Reflex shows it's not the first time footage was put on the web.

I'm all fore exploring and finding your own 'secret spot', but in WA it also means you probably end up sailing by yourself on hard too reach, out of the way, sharky spots, outer reefs, rippy beachies, etc. which I've done now several times since moving to WA 4 years ago. It's a lot more fun and safer to share the waves in these places with a few mates!

Same applies to sailing in Tassie in January. The two times I had wind and waves (seabreeze didn't cooperate...) I sailed with one other guy. Footage available soon...
