Find here the first Highlight Clip of the KIA PWA Cold Hawaii Worldcup 2012 in Klitmöller/Danmark. The warmup of the weekend, just before the action starts. From now on we send you a link to the actual Highlight clip every day:

Watching the live stream now, wow the conditions are crap.

Is interesting to see that even top riders have a hard time in average onshore conditions.

Have to agree. I watched a fair bit last night and apart from Koster everyone else appeared to be mere mortals and some were ordinary to say the least.

Yeah koster is a freak.

I bet even the ordinary ones would be impressive at a real wave location, say cape verde. I really don't get it? it's the world championships in wave sailing and most of the locations are so average.

The conditions on day 1 weren't as bad but still very average. They have to have the event there because the PWA struggles as it is to stay afloat financially, and the Klitmoller event has probably the best sponsorship and coverage of the enitre wave tour - just look at how much better the streaming is for this event, and how much bigger this event is, also it has big sponsors like Kia. The same sort of thing applies to the Sylt event. (which hardly ever gets enough wind to run.)
I would love to see a real wave spot on the tour though. This season they actually tried to organise a CV event, but negotiations for it fell through .
So yes, I too, also am annoyyed but can see things from the PWAs perspective and understand why the PWA has events at these locations.

I really like the way they setup the live coverage! But please someone explain what's with the commentator? It's blindingly obvious who ever does it knows very little about the sport let alone about the competitors.

I actually think he is just parroting what someone else is saying in the background. Perhaps they should just give Ben Profit some cash and have him do it. I thought the videos he put together for Gran Canaria where actually pretty good.

I'd say Ben wanted to concentrate on the contest more so hasnt been in the box this time.

the bloke your listening to is Seb van der berg a Dutch guy who apparently used to do eurosport and stuff on tv. but hasnt done windsurfing for a millineium.

The guy on the beach is the announcer for the public. Its not as easy as it looks to commentate when the conditions are crap and you can hear the other bloke. he's probably also watching a monitor whereas the bloke on the beach mic will have a view of everything. hence the repetition.

link with live scores if interested

Hey benny... are you still over there or back in WA?

I hear you re it not being easy but it would help if he would at least know what the jumps are. You can clearly hear he is simply repeating what the beach VO is saying.

It's a bit like me doing cricket announcements. I'd be like: "oh, and what a good bat. There we go. Nice catch. Good throw back to the guy in the middle."

Not saying it terrible. The coverage is better having none at all and the new format is definitely a step in the right direction.

back in the west mate.

id say he repeats because there is a slight delay between the feed to the screeens and what the anouncer see's so he hears the announcer then see it on the screen and makes the same call.

Day 3 - a bit more sailing action would have been good - some pretty wild moves in what looks like tough conditions
