Put together a quick edit of the wavesailing title's here
you'll have to click on the fullscreen button as the smaller size is not playing back smoothly and too busy to rectify today! There's also a small sample of still's here www.birdseyeviewphotography.com.au/blog/ with the rest going on the event website this week, australianwavesailingtitles.org.au.

That is as good if not even better than any of the footage on the Windsurfing Movie. Col, I would say the transition is complete!

Oh, and don't those new Tushi Rocks look good on camera?

Hey Birdseyeview,

Great footage and nice to see Margrate River from a different angle for a change... I think it shows the quality of that break a lot better compare to anything shot from the beach.

A tip for shooting video on any of the Canon cams... it looks like there are a few dropped frames in the footage. I am guessing you shot this in autoexposure mode? There is a slight quirk in the Canon setup when you shoot without looked exposure. As the light changes the camera will automatically change the aperture setting on the lens. Every time this happens the footage will have dropped frames.

To work around this you'll need to either shoot full manual mode or in aperture priority with exposure locked.

Thank's guy's, I even surprised myself on this one!
Steh, the original RAW footage plus the finished video are perfect, no dropped frames at all - it's only the vimeo version, haven't experienced this issue with vimeo before so who know's. By the way, all shot in manual - focus and exposure. HD version is awesome so am bringing it along tonight.

These guy's have asked to put the video on their site and it play's heap's better www.windsurfmoves.com/p/du-wave . Geez, can't believe the feedback from this video, had email's from so many people around the world including some of the main player's in the windsurfing scene. Also went to the presentation last night, where Scott McKercher was announced the winner!

Women's was won by Kanza Stott.

Hey looking at your world travelling history way back[ some of us still have memories of those halcyon days mag articles] and windsurfing miles on your clock. all these accolades are a just reward for your love and devotion to the fantastica, that is windsurfing.
much fun and fortune to you.

great vision, and kudos to the pilot for some very tight flying. check out the artificial horizon in the opening sequence...

gyro-stabilised??

i havn't seen that back-to-the-beach angle much in windsurfing vids (I havn't seen many recent ones... decided long ago nothing could match RIP), but it really gives a good feel for the break. I've never been there but that vid gives a much better "feel" for the place than the thousands of stills I've seen over the years in the magazines.

I just hope you can somehow make some $$$ from it so you can keep doing it!

Awesome Col! And the pics are top quality too, you are right the light looking down is completley different and much better than what I had to contend with onshore when you finally kicked me out of the chopper.
Talk soon :)
