I recently got into the waves which i absolutely love,
i have been using a 05ish 95lt Exocet original wave which was awesome, but probably a bit big. i liked it because i could float out on it very easily but i did rely allot on the size for safety.

that board however has gone to board heaven or hell or will decompose and return to the earth somehow scientifically...

So i need another wave board.

Requisites >

I weigh around 68kgs need something i can easily slog on cos i like going out on light days. am willing to get a smaller board for the windy days.
i can gybe proficiently and waterstart etc.

Has to carry a 5.7

I would prefer to have a proper waveboard not a freestyle wave because i dont freestyle and i have other boards for freeride.

not too expensive

Rides waves good.

Too picky? probably...

But I dont wanna go through the trial and error that no doubt every one else has done.

Anythoughts would be Appreciated

5.7 how light a wind do you sail in? 68kg I would think 70l and a 5.0 would do you fine
And with boards being shorter and a bit wider than old boards I reckon 70l is more like 75l
Compared to old boards. I think if you go say 76l jp twinie you will be laughing. I have one and
I think it's a good light wind board and a solid high wind board. But I weigh 80

However I think in a windy-ish spot (like you can wavesail once a week at least) most people would want a board that is 10L less than your bodyweight and one that is 10L more???

68kg is pretty light and 58L boards don't grow on trees so a 65L with very small fin (19cm) and a 85L with a larger than standard (23-24cm) fin woudl be a pretty good combo for say 30-35kn right down to 15kn schlogging

mavo ,that acid, would probably do u for the windy days in the ..20-35 wind dept.. comfy with a 3.7 - 5.3.

It probably would Miller but i need something that will carry a 5.7 happily cos its all i got in wave sails atm.

New board then new sails then small wave board.

i've been carying 5.7s on 69L JPs for years. just put a 23cm fin on and she's all good.
then get a board of 80 to 85L for ya big one, ya cant go wrong.
i've found the jp real world waves great around perth so would get on 83 or 82 RWW for the big one and then a 69 pro/radical wave for then ya hit gnaraloo or margies.
the jps seam more forgiving to me than some boards so you can improve ya wave sailing quickly.
This combo had worked for me since 2005

I met Franciso Goya at the Gorge in a board shop & asked him a similar question about gear & boards. He said the lighter the better (less sail & less board) & it's ok to slog a bit. It's easier to get more maneuverability for yourself & out of your gear when there is less to push around.. He said that tips on good rigging got your size down as well due to getting the most out of your gear... Hope that helps a bit :-)
