Epic conditions and amazing heats. This is one of the best wave competition day I've seen in quite some time, non stop action.

Aussie talent Jake Ghiretti did amazing, especially considering the lack of experience on this track.

Cheers to Mark but Browzy was robbed. Period.

Here's Flying Dutchman's edit of the final so sprayblaze can relive the injustice from different sources.

Like you mean Brown shouldn't even have been in the final? The points he got on his very last wave in the semis was questionable. If that would have been scored more fairly, Mark would have had the title already before the finals.

Brown got a second chance and didn't dominate the finals by any means. I thought Bernd had the better waves but can't complain about the winner either.

Mark deserves to be the champ in my opinion. Brown has had many and its good to see a fresh name being added to the list. Looking at the young talent that is pushing, we've got promising years ahead.

Imho the best scenario would have been if Marc reached the final and managed to be ahead of Marcilio. But if, if.. ifs do not apply, I know- just mentioning for the sake of some discussion between aficionados. I am sure Marc being a great athlete and having an awesome year would have wanted to finish off Browne in direct combat to hail a new era in wave windsurfing. On the other hand Morgan's landing was on the back of the wave and he forced his way back on to it. Regarding Bernd- he is simply THE Hookipa wizard..., Robby's performance was also on another level. Thanks to PVB for the amazing video summary of the final heat.

Great event and great cover indeed!

What's your thought on the women's final? One might complain that wave selection was more rewarded than style and technic...

Fully agree on Bernd being the Man in Ho'okipa. To me it's kinda like PK in Pozo, if they are on form, just seat back and watch, no bother trying to compete!
