I had to endure driving down beach road seeing it go off because I had commitments with my missus. To top it off we ended up at a expensive "on the water restaurant" in port melbourne, spent enough money on food that I could of bought that new mast extension I need - then got food poisoning and have been squirting out of both ends all morning.
I'm never going to get oysters kilpatrick again, they just cook up the dodgy ones.

Looked like some small sail sizes yesterday, what size were people rigging?

Although Ginger Pom's post had a palpable and lingering sense of frustration, Eddy's story is the better of the two. The diversity and duration of things that caused frustration and discomfort made me audibly gasp. And that they were beyond the individual's control exquisitely illustrated the concept that life was so unfair for eddy yesterday.

I hope you both have a better experience next weekend or another time very soon.

For the record, I was way, way, way overpowered sailing off the clew of my 5.8 at Parkdale. Knowing it was going to be bumpy with short chop, I took out a really old fibreglass slalom that sticks to the water (it must be around 12+ kg). I didn't stay out for long. The conditions were definitely 3.7 or smaller.

Quit your whingeing guys...at least Huey showed for you. We waited until about 3pm, then I rigged a 7.5 on a 165lt board...planed ok in the SE slop, but not what you'd call a spectator's sport.

What p!ssed me off was that the wind came through after dark...and because of the day's events, I was onto about my 6th or 7th ale by then...otherwise a night sail might've been on the cards!

I did not see you Ginger pom at the windsurf jam we had at Ricketts point. Where were you? It went off big time. The wind blew up to a 30 knot Seaster. Then it blew even stronger, as the afternoon went on, to a sandy point like wind of 40+ knots. There were about 50 windsurfers out, and half the guys were over powered on there 4.5 wave sails. I was over powered as well, so I decided to get me camera out, and shoot some video clips. It was a awesome windsurf jam. I think, I saw about over 10 foward loops, and 1 guy pull a jump, that took him up and up, to about 15 feet in the air, off abit of chop. That's just our first SE for the year Ginger pom. There will be plenty more, son. So you better get your 3.0 sail ready, and I better go shopping for a smaller sail and board my friend.

What a day it was! 3.5m and 68L board were perfect! It just kept getting windier and windier - by about 7:30 I was even starting to get a bit overpowered on my small gear (either that or I was just bloody exhausted from sailing since 2pm). I wish we would get more days like that - but at least this one was on the weekend - perfect timing - perfect day!

Sucks for you guys who couldn't make it - there's no bigger frustration! - but at least in Melbourne you know there will be a next time - get yourselves a 3.5m so you can make the most if it!!

RICKETTS!!! I love that place in an Easterly - although it's even better in a westerly! Can't wait for the next 35 knot + day there!
