where is the wind in vicco..not the kind of wind to satisfy a midlife crisis foiler.not the kind of wind that the whole of stkilda watermen & women likes (cutting the grass.back and forth and so on) I'm talking a honking sw er to kick up a nice bay wave and at least cut 2/3 turns in or a nice stiff breeze on the ocean side kicking up a few whitecaps so i don't get too creamed getting past the breakers yet not too strong that i get arm pump too quick on the waves hopefully this post will end the jinx.though the surf has been excellent the last 4 weeks

Found some wind...didn't have a great day myself.. rigged up a too bigger sail in the tricky conditions and used all my gas up in a couple of runs...though I did and still have the man flu...so put the stick&pole in the cue rack and got out the tea bag and somewhat redeemed myself and caught few waves??
Photo of old mate with htc phone so no zoom.
Keep the peace and don't name the the location.

Very few to no SW'ers at all in winter, they start in Spring - are you sure you are a Vicco ?
Northerlies are common - with Rye front beach being the main destination.

Why not name the location ? ...looks like a nice wave.

Quick blast at greenpoint today!
Wind was really good for a Northerly.
And fingers were numb.

Looks like the wind has started... this week is looking just a bit brutal.

When do you choose a kite over a sail?

when there are no waves or crosshore wind in the ocean but enough wind to kick up a 1-2 foot baywave in portphillip bay i will hit it up
and if its tricky and gusty and its just not happening for me on the windsurfer.usually due to wrong size sail or poor rigging.ill put the stick&pole back in the cue rack and get the tea bag out for some redemption.
i only lernt to kite because you can still surf a wave when direct onshore or cross onshore where as on a windsurfer that is not worth it..unless you like jumps, slalom or freestyle.

Interesting... What's your biggest sail? I'm considering kiting in under 20 knots. The bay is often rough even when it's 15 knots, so I don't enjoy big gear. I know quite a few people who do this - kite under 20, windsurf otherwise. BTW, not that I know much about wavesailing, have you considered stubby boards for onshore stuff? Apparently they are perfect for this.
