I saw a few of spotties runs from the beach or when I was standing in the shallows waiting for a lul so i could sail
One thing that I noticed was that his board was flying everywhere absorbing the chop but he looked rock solid holding the rig down, awesome to watch

Yes good conditions at Rye last Sat', & hard to stay in control in such conditions/speeds.
I was reaching peaks of 39, 38, 37 a bit after where this pic was taken from the stone groin near the pier, best peak was a bit west of the Tootgarook boat ramp.

All PBs for Rye..

1sec 39.285
2sec 39.202
5x10sec 37.005
500m 37.175
Nm 35.786

35 knot nautical mile - crikey Spotty; as a ratio of your top speed, thats seriously honking.
Did that include any sandbar weaving, or is the fin too small to care?

NO!
I just don't sail anymore!! need to work less and sail more.
I actually pulled the gear out yesterday arvo and went to Mt Martha but the wind droped out... and I remembered why I got sick of (spoilt!!) sailing in Vic!!!
I did sail in the bay last month on a NW was good fun.
no daylight savings = not much time to sail!
