Red & Nasi... How is the lake after all the rain?
I haven't sailed there for quite a few years. (I learnt there 1998 ish)
Is it still 4 foot of water + 6 foot of black stinky mud?
I am thinking of taking some learners as they will feel safer in an enclosed lake and flat water.
Are the still sand banks to look out for?
Cheers
Gav.
Its a totally different lake now.
first time i stumbled on it it had a weed and algae problem and was in a bad way.
but now its flushed, and CLEAN.
i was sailing it today no weed fin,
i was surfing straight out from the launch beach to the other side of the lake.
the weed at the mo ends 20-30 metres out, water gets deep and weed free for a good lengthy sail. theres a bar thats 3ft deep right on the other side and a small bed of weed just before the bar but nothing to worry about.
the water is clear and theres heaps of baby fish in the shallows. I also saw what I reckon to be a mulloway swim off, because it was a decent size fish.
its one of my fave places to sail now with pelicans, swans and other wildlife in abundance.
