Interesting little sail at the PiT this arvo... as there was a guying swimming three metres off the bank (i.e., right on the speed run), starting at the launch and going all the way to the far dunes, turning around and coming back along the same path.

I kept having nightmares about what a fin would do to him at 30 knots.

Gotta give him credit for a long swim, but...

Last week there was a guy teaching his girl friend how to sail in the same spot. To stop her drifting down wind they had a rope tied to the board. It worked until someone didn't see the rope at close to 30 knots....

there were some swimmers at Dendy yesterday swimming along the beach, then out to the pole, then back again to budgie central.

It really was like dogs pissing to mark out their territory.

Yes, mr swimmer man, you do have right of way. You also have rights of way as a pedestrian on the cycle lane that runs next to the beach at Dendy, but you don't jump out in front of cyclists... or do you?

we had the same problems with beach traffic on Balnarring Beach, just gotta learn to share as one incident could damage our permit options, and we all know how hard it is to find places to enjoy are wind based sports.

agree- their is enough water out there for everyone and really missing out on a bank run is not the end of the earth. I know the GPS guys will say otherwise.

It would be a pretty awesome swim along there. Maybe put the GPS unit on him with the outgoing tide... interesting to see his speed with it and into it.
