hi guys,
I plan to spend WE at sandy pt this WE
Forecasts look great for Sun in the bay (SE).
My girlfriend wants to practice on flat water; does the inlet works with SE ? and does it work at low tide as well?
Cheers

It does but not as well as a true easterly. The water is very flat when the tide is low enough to expose the easterly bank. You can sail up the inlet a little more if it's SE but watch for shallow areas when you first venture out and as the tide drops. If the forecast holds, the wind could be 30+ so practicing will be fun!

I'm there if the swell is up... Or if no swell there, hopefully the wind moves up north for Big Left or Gunna to work?

keen for sandy, where do u get sandy wave size from,, if it's waist to 3/4 ..i'm there.. don't want to do the hell drive for inch high.....

maybe gunna on a hightide..... bit on the risky side on low....

has anyone had a decent sail at flinders..... i went out for a look on an easterly on lowish tide,,and it was crap,,, blownover, unpredictable and very gusty.....

whats the secret formula for this place??????
i'm guessin more of a SE wind with a decent size swell on a high tide ?????

Check the trigger brothers website they have a webcam for flinders. Low tide is ok if the wind is there, it's just a bit daunting to see so much reef out of the water. best is on an incoming tide. Only the top half of the wave breaks, so it not super critical if u get dumped on the inside. The wave horse shoes around the reef giving u a great face to power off the lip.
There is alway plenty of room too and deep water when heading out to get around any big sets and u do get some big ones there.
If the swell is too small there, then it's usually Gunna. No good going to gunna on a big swell u'll never get out and smash ya gear at the same time. Both place work well on an east to stheastly it just all depends on swell size.
If anyone is keen to go there just pm me with your number and I'll let you know when we head that way so I can give you a good briefing on the area.
