i am down the west cost for 4 day based at Warrambool. where should i go with the northerly wind. i am still a beginner

I think the Loch at Port Fairy might be ok. But check with a local as I haven't sailed it.

^^^ Agreed that the Lach, or Portland harbour (leeward side of the breakwater) would be the best shot - might even get there myself yet.

re; Lach - check the tides as it is tidal & you need some water.

[edit] Just to elaborate, if you're going to sail on the lach, it's about 20mins from Warrnambool to the West. Head toward Pt Fairy & turn off 'Woodbine Rd' to your left, go around the 90deg r/hand cnr, past the golf course & you'll see a grassy area to rig & park at the airstrip on the south side of the lach. The water is only waist-deep (with a sludgy base) and just watch out for the fence posts, although if you keep to the East-end of the lach you'll be right. It's a great spot for beginners & for blasting!
