booking a trip to san carlos in mexico for 3 weeks - april 21st to may 12th. at the moment it is looking like a bit of a solo mission so if anyone is keen on coming let me know.

may is supposed to be peak time for sw swell (apparently the best) and is always meant to be windy. will be good to escape seeing that may is normally our worst month for wind.

few videos of the place:

I can highly recommend a trip to San Carlos. Spent a month there with Wes Greene, Ian Lack and Pete Trimble about 10 years ago and we had an epic trip! We flew into Vancouver first, bought an old Dodge V8 and went down to the Gorge and continued down the 101 to San Diego. There we stocked up with a months supply of food at Costco, before heading over the border and heading down the Baja Peninsula.
When it's working Punta San Carlos is one of the longest cleanest right hand point breaks in the world. It's a slow breaking predictable wave, so it's ideal for beginner wavesailors and really fun for the more advanced. The Solo Sports camp is perfectly set up with gear to rent and tent accomodation. However, we decided to rough it and set up our own campsite right on the point and didn't shower or shave for a month!

We sailed 3 out of the 4 weeks, mostly 5.3, 4.7 and surfed on the no wind days. It's the most memorable windsurf trip I've done probably because I got to know the local fisherman Rudy who took me out cray fishing and invited me back to his humble home for a fiesta that included tequila for lunch. Rudy also offered to bring us cases of Corona at $1 each and kept us well stocked!

Love the story Luke.
Windsurfing is as much about the journey as well as the activity itself
