Hi Markis,
We must warn you of a particular indiividual called Red who is a bit like the Billy Goat Gruff of the West side. Not so much in temperament but more so in the looks department! I am sure Red will add some local knowledge to this...if he ever gets off the water and decides to read the forums....

You;ve got some awesome spots right on your doorstep.

Point Henry- W- NW
Lake Connewarre- SW
Swan Bay- N
Barwon River Mouth- not sure on best direction

Theres a few posts about various spots in the Vic forums. Do a search for IWC road trips/ Point Henry/ Swan Bay.

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Victoria/Whats-Lake-Connewarre-like-at-the-moment/

Otherwise come along on our roadtrips- www.inverlochwindsurf.org.au.
We like to head over to Bellerine quite often (if Red grants us entry!!)

Awesome long runs, flat water and lots of wildlife, and then there's the birds and fish as well.

For progression point Henry's great very safe and often a few other sailers or kites you will need some footware for the urchins. Rising or high tide the best for windsurfing as it very shellow in close

Mark,

Dont listen to those out of town try hards!

We're very lucky down here as we have most pretty much everything on our door step. Great Wavesailing, fun bump and jump and some super smooth flat water for speed.

One requirement to really have some fun is a weed fin..

As Drift said...

Point Henry - anything with some West in in..
Point richards (portarlington) NE,N NW..
Indented head - st leonards - NE , E ,SE
Swan Bay Queenscliff , W, NW, N, NE , E - flat enough for 40knot runs...
Barwon Heads river mouth - N, NW
Barwon heads river mouth (RAAF beach) wavesailing, SW
13th Beach wavesailing, NW
Point Impossible wavesailing SW
Lake Connewarre E, SE, S. SW

I don't do much wave sailing so I am happy to be corrected..

One thing is that to get such great sailing we've sacrificed a few things....

like mud and weed instead of sand..

There a few of us who sail regularly and are always up for some more crew on the water.

Connewarre, try Brinsmead Lane. SE to SW, it hoots. Brinsmead Lane end gets a tiny bit shallow, but turns into Speed Trials... Flat water. Out in the more open sections you get a little bit of bump and jump.

In Summer, and after Summer, the water warms up really nice too. Easily the warmest water in the area. Springsuit or boardies is the option.
