We've had sea breezes to 18 knots every night this week. There's 4-5 foilers blasting around having loads of fun. People are saying they're the best sessions they've ever had.

No kiteboarders. No windsurfers. Just foilers. Loads of wind. Loads and loads of fun. Where is everyone else?

Doesn't your foil hit the reef their? Been foiling St kilda west but missed last few days.

No. I know where the reef is and just avoid it.

mowing the lawns(back&forth back &forth) for fun...been out fishing to keep sane at the moment might try a foil in a couple of years when there under $500... i cant justify spending $2,500 for a sport where you on the water but you dont touch the water....dont get me wrong it looks interesting yet lame at the same time....

The point of my question is more about where people are on perfectly good sailing days. The wind was far better than days where you see guys slogging around and occasionally pumping onto the plane.

As a frothing foiler .... carving turns? jumping? speed? What's not to love?

@Gorgo, most of this week's seabreezes have maxed out at 16 - 17 knots, and lasted about an hour (two at most). All very well if you're 60 kg, have a 130L board and a 7.8 sail. Fkn hopeless when you're 90 kg, have a 100L board and only go up to 7.0 for your sail....
Plenty of us (myself included) don't have the luxury of living bayside and have a hike to get in for a sail. Barely an hour of a 16 knot breeze isn't an incentive I'm afraid...

Where's the bonafide 20+ kn SW afternoon seabreezes which last from 4 through 8? Jesus, I'd even settle for a couple of hours of 18-19 kn due S right now... Anything which doesn't have fkn N or E in it....

Yeah, this summer so far has been crap. Great if you are into foiling but I ride SB and don't bother unless it's consistent 18-20 knots.

Nothing beats windsurfing above 20 knots as far as I am concerned but foiling is pretty cool way to get value out of sub conditions where there is no waves. Pretty fn scary when you stack too so no lameness in actually doing it. Like a bad forward attempt on roids.
But so far in sessions I have started foiling, swap the foil for fin then windsurf as the wind picks up to around 20, like last Sunday?? was a solid 20 and only a few out. I was too powered up to foil. No kiters either! Sunday looks a possibility for 20 later.

Parent teacher interviews, 2 nights and speech night Gorgo. Not to worry, holidays in a week and a half. Plenty of time to grab those breezes. I'lI try and bring some reinforcements down to Hampton as son seems keen.

Sailed Sat at Ricketts North in the soup. Got my foot stuck in the strap on my first Gybe and wrenched my knee. Did 3 more runs and pulled the pin....then had a few more runs in the evening with a bout of diarrhea, should have believed the EPA warnings Happy days !!

...I stayed well clear of the filth since I was on strong antibiotics for more several weeks last year when I ignored the warnings. On the bright side today's EPA Beach Report signals Amber for anything south of Elwood. Amazing how the Bay deals with pollution.
