Where is every one windsurfing this weekend?

Myself:
Saturday: At Mordy Sailing Club for the WV course racing series.
Sunday: Maybe at Parkdale in the afternoon with the WOD races.

Refer to BOM forecast below for Port Philip Bay.
Forecast issued at 5:10 am EDT on Friday 17 February 2012.


Saturday 18 February
Winds South to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending south to southwesterly 5 to 10 knots during the day then turning southeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the evening. Seas Below 0.5 metres.

Sunday 19 February
Winds East to northeasterly 5 to 15 knots tending north to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots during the morning then tending south to southeasterly up to 15 knots during the evening. Seas Below 0.5 metres.


Please note; these are not Windsurfing Victoria Inc organised event (execpt for the WV Learn Windsurfing & Course Racing event at MSC on Saturday) and this post is to be used as information only. The intent of this post is for windsurfers to post where they could be going to windsurf this weekend and for other windsurfers to possible come and join them.

Based on that forecast my answer is "Nowhere."

Might be a bit of an easterly down Sandy Point way tomorrow, bugger all swell forecast but the inlet is an option on the big gear from mid afternoon, low tide around 4pm. See how I feel tomorrow.

A few of us are considering Invy - but will depend on forecasts later on tonight.....

Can anyone tell me how long it typically takes to get to Sandy's Inlet?

Forecast has changed for tomorrow, the following is for the central coast region, so Im thinking Sandy Pt tomorrow:

Saturday 18 FebruaryWindsEast to southeasterly 10 to 20 knots becoming easterly 15 to 25 knots during the afternoon and locally reaching 20 to 30 knots by early evening.

I would have loved to come to Mordy Steve, but my wife is due to give birth in a few days and so I was only allowed out for 1 hour at the closest beach!

Got a bit of a sail in at Ricketts sat arvo on the brand spanka F2 SX82. there was bugger all wind but this thing planes in nothing, I reckon I can get it going in the same breeze as a Formula board.
Matched it to a 9.5 Koncept which worked fine but think 8.5 will be the sweet spot.
Hopefully a nice 13-15 knots sometime this week to give it a real test.

Mr Love, would really appreciate a rundown on why you choose the FX82 against, say, a widestyle Isonic?

Hi Oldie, Simple really. I help out KA with sail design. Jesper Orth, KA,s PWA racer is riding F2, I took his board for a spin when I was over in Perth in Dec and really liked it, loved how easily it got on the plane. Also being a closet board designer I liked what I saw as far as shape went, really close to something I would have designed for myself.
Then Steve Stratford from Steves Shed in Perth who imports F2 and is the KA dealer offered to see if he could get me one and when it appeared he could I went ahead.
I have not ridden a big Isonic, I am sure they rock!!!! but I am happy with this.

Mine is the lightweight one as well, the Silberfiel. 7.5 kgs with straps for a 132 litre board!!!!!!
