Where are the spots for wavesailing in Sunday and Monday's westerly, that are a reasonable drive from Melbourne?

I was thinking of 13th Beach or Point Impossible??

And, does anyone know what's happened to that post that had a great list of all of the Melbourne/Vic spots listed with best wind directions?

Al did an incredible presentation at Shq a while ago.

They should put it on their site.

Based on my notes from Al's fantastic presentation at SHQ, a WNW can have you looking at 13th beach whilst a W can have you looking at Point Leo. I haven't done either...yet!

Al's advice on E-to-SE at Flinders certainly worked for me last weekend : )

Sandy Point is good in a westerly. Point Leo is better in SW

Westerly the main two options are Point Impossible or Sandy Pt - the Gap (Warratah)
Leo needs SW.

Torquay coast certainly looks light for wind, Sandy Point should be a much safer bet to get wind
I'll keep an eye on the forecast, and if it stays looking good a few of us will be going to the Gap

Just spoke to Al at SHQ - incredibly helpful.

After looking at the forecast with him, I'm now planing on heading down to Warratah Bay to the Gap as well.

Seems to be big differences in the forecast wind, so the Gap it is.

What time are you heading down?

Hey Ginger Pom where are the changes to the forecast you are seeing?

Here's what I see on MetEye and Swellnet (for Cape Liptrap) - am I reading something wrong or is there another forecast to look at?

(Sorry about the size - can't work out how to make the images smaller!)

Ah...My rampant wind snobbery emerges.

I usually would wait till a bit more wind is forecast. It looks good...you'll have a great time.

When I looked last night, it looked like the best the wind was heading too far south

Same site I think

Well you missed out GP! Was really fun, stacked on a 4.7 and about half mast... feeling pretty sore today
spent about 4hours in the water at the gap

yeh, we had a pretty good time down 13th. the wind/conditions were changing a lot but enough wind and waves to entertain us for a good few hours.

Where abouts is the Gap? Is it the gap at SP between the higher dunes where you walk across from the inlet side to the surf?

Ha ha.... never mind. Glad you all got a good sail (through gritted teeth)

I'd been off work sick for two weeks and Sunday was first day I'd felt human... Would have been instant zero brownie points if I'd driven to Sandy and got ill again.

There's always next weekend.

Was a tough call - the Gap or 13th, but 13th ended up pretty good too with 4.7 also and around 3 foot.
2014 starboard quad is awesome -I reckon best they've made!
