Last seasons event was a heap of fun. With everyone enjoying a variety of different aspects of the event. This season we have 2 WV Classics. One is in summer and other is in Autumn.

The WV Classics (Summer Edition) will be held at Parkdale Yacht Club on the 2nd Dec from 10am.

As per last season's WV Classic, this event will be full of classic activities (Inc. fancy dress option for the relay race). The event structure will be based around social fun, like we had in the 80s and 90s. All entrants can be part of a Team of 4. With at least 2 of 3 races counting towards the overall award. A trophies for first place team and best fancy dress will be awarded after the races in the club house. The club bar will be open for a drink afterwards.

Some of events we are planning to run are;

* Course Racing triangle race (water start, with a upwind leg) – counts towards WV Course Racing Series
* Slalom race (beach start)
* Relay Race (beach start, to outer marker and back)

The schedule of these races would be based on the weather and other PYC club day activities on the day. With regards to the beach start races. A marked off area will be setup by WV with PYC to ensure safety and access for all beach users.

A number of teams are already forming with a variety of fancy dress costumes. If you do not have a team that's OK, as there will be plenty of other windsurfers at the event looking for suitable teams. The fancy dress costume is only optional.

If you attended last season's event you know how much fun this event is. If you missed the last one, here is your chance to join in the fun.

See you there!

The short term forecast has come in for this Sunday. It should be a good day for the WV Classic. My fancy dress costume has arrived for the relay race and I pick up the trophies Friday night.

Time to leave work and get some practice on the water.

Sunday 2 December
Winds
West to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending south to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots during the day then decreasing to about 10 knots during the evening.

Stephen, any chance we can twist your arm into running the slalom race earlier in 15-20 knots? Would love to see loads of windsurfers planing and gybing around the marks!

Agree more appropriate for shortboards at that time with that forecast. Lightens up later which will be perfect for the longboarders

+2 on that front too!

Non-planning is like cycling indoors on a stand on a sunny day.
