Anyone thinking of heading out this weekend? Light winds forecast but could be fun - and cool lol

If seabreeze's forecast holds (20 NNE), it'll be a Rye hatrick for me...

BOM is only showing 15 - 20 at this satage so it will probably be around 15 lol

The are usually TECHNICALLY correct. Probably something like 15 most places and 20 in one place. I'm taking the lady out for her birthday Sat so hoping Sunday becomes the day.

Seabreeze arrows are up to 23knots. It's bound to be fantastic. Northerly forecasts are always really accurate.

I haven't sailed for five weeks so I've lost all ability to be rational.

Might be worth considering a dawn to midday sail. Northerlies have a bad habit of dying by midday. Hope you have you best wetsuit on though. Been getting foggy and frosty 5 degree mornings.

Was 2 degrees here the other morning when I got to work. Still, thats why they make 4/3 wesuits and boots

Northerly 10 to 20 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots around dawn then
decreasing to 15 to 25 knots by early evening.

Isn't NNE straight onshore at Rye? I don't like green point but my van is a heap and green point is at the end of my road...

Is it worth the trip to Rye?

I also live close to GP. I'd say it depends on the conditions. Last saturday GP had no wind until mid arvo and I should have gone to Rye!!! On the other last friday GP was an absolute blast, not even worth thinking of going to Rye.

Yeah it is close enough to straight onshore. But unlike most places on the bay, where if the wind is strong and onshore you get smashed side on by the waves unless you have really small wave gear, Rye has heaps of sandbanks. So close in to shore it is quite flat, while past the first sandbank or two you can get some small but decent ramps. It also never becomes more than nipple deep unless you go quite far out into the horrid chop. Great for beginner to advanced.

The attraction for me on a northerly is the option to jump on my favourite tack, since I really suck jumping in northerlies on the east side of the bay. Guess I should work on this.
