I treated myself to a new gopro session, so here's my obligatory amateur editing to inflict on everyone!

Although I've used older hero 2 and 3, I haven't owned one before - couldn't justify the $$$. Someone gave me an anaconda voucher so I used it to buy the session.

For what I need the session does the job. Push the one and only button, it powers on and starts recording. Push it again it stops. No messing about, no fogging in external case cos it doesn't need one. It's also much smaller which is good. The picture seems quite good even in the overcast conditions.

The only major downside is the internal battery, when it gives up I'll have to bin the whole unit. I figure by then I'll be bored with it anyway or there will be new shiny toys to buy.

Not deep enough for your 86 litre board although there were some deeper channels ploughed after you went past. I was running a 32cm weed fin and scraping the mud on the bottom for most of the runs - managed to scrape it up to 29kts

Hang on, I had a 25cm fin. How on earth (water) did you get through?

When you feel the fin start dragging in the shallow bits, more power in the sail and push through it. The weed fin should get over it.

If you lose speed and stop it's a long walk in the muddy bottom to deeper channels. Don't gybe in the shallow bits coz it's hard to get going again - there's a subtle change in the size of the chop ripples that tells you it's slightly deeper

What's the best wind direction for Swan Bay? Do you need a weed fin?

Anything with North in it - N, NW, NE and( NS )

Booties and weed fins are essential

Launch from the Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Yacht Club

Local crew are always friendly - now there is an opening for someone

Check out the IWC facebook page as there is always a crew going down on the right day.

Actually sailable in any direction but anything with south in it really needs to fill in...best direction is west/north west.
